The Pre-Award Senior Specialist will work with faculty, Principal Investigators and Department Administrators to provide pre-award grants management and support to ensure smooth operation internal and external sponsored research projects, contracts and related legal issues.Operational Responsibilities• The primary role of this position is the submission of accurate, timely, and compliant grant applications for several research initiatives and departments of Khalifa University.• Assist faculty and support staff in the development of proposals, including budgets and justifications, and work with faculty to ensure all pre-award requirements have been met while adhering to all federal, state, university and sponsored research guidelines prior to proposal submission.• Review grants accounts with faculty, make recommendations and follow-up on all changes.• Validate proposal submissions for accuracy and completeness.• Review agency requirements and deadlines, and work with relevant department personnel to establish timelines for proposal submission.• Work directly with Faculty Principal Investigators and Administrators to submit grant proposals, within strict timelines and guidelines, to various funding agencies including Industry, Federal, State, and local entities and Foundations.• Create budget models that fit within parameters of project budget and expectations• Prepare large-scale, multi-disciplinary/multi-institutional proposals, and collaborate with external stakeholders during the proposal submission process.• Work directly with Principal Investigators to identify potential funding opportunities, in conjunction with the Associate Director of Contracts and Grants.• Maintain a tracking system to follow contracts, subcontracts, and agreements,• Serve as liaison to Grants Management Office, respond to inquiries from senior management concerning specific grant and contract information.• Assist the Pre-Award Associate Director in creating and providing trainings to PIs and research personnel.• Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.• Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.• Demonstrate a strong commitment and practice to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.Required QualificationsA Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Finance or Engineering subjects.Required ExperienceA minimum 7 years of experience.
