Sun County Wellness fosters a sisterhood that extends beyond formal treatment, helping women build resilience and thrive in their long-term well-being.Role Description The Primary Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in San Juan Capistrano, CA. This position is responsible for providing individual and group therapy, conducting clinical assessments, and developing personalized treatment plans for clients in a women-focused rehab setting. The Primary Therapist will manage a caseload, coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team, and address co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders using evidence-based approaches. Daily tasks include documenting clinical progress, participating in treatment team meetings, collaborating with family and community resources as appropriate, and contributing to a safe, trauma-informed, and supportive environment. The role also involves ongoing professional development, adherence to ethical and regulatory standards, and active participation in program improvement initiatives.Qualifications Candidate should possess skills in Treatment Planning, with the ability to create and adjust individualized, evidence-based care plans.Candidate should possess skills in Social Work and Case Management, including advocacy, resource coordination, and supporting clients through complex systems of care.Candidate should possess skills in Chemical Dependency treatment, including understanding addiction cycles, relapse prevention, and recovery-oriented approaches.Candidate should possess skills in Dual Diagnosis care, with experience addressing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field (or equivalent clinical training) is preferred.Relevant clinical licensure or registration in California (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, ASW, AMFT, APCC) or eligibility to obtain such credentials.Experience working in residential or intensive outpatient treatment settings, especially with women’s mental health and addiction issues, is beneficial.Strong therapeutic communication skills, cultural humility, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries while fostering trust and safety.Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate, compliant clinical documentation.Familiarity with trauma-informed care, group facilitation, and crisis intervention is a plus.
