Principal AI Engineer

Location: Abu DhabiDuration: Yearly renewable contract Role: Senior individual-contributor role leading technical direction and architecture for production AI systems and backend platforms within an AI Factory.

Key Responsibilities

Lead AI architecture, system design, and technical strategy across teams. Design production AI systems including RAG, agents, model evaluation, inference and serving. Build/scaling backend platforms, APIs, event-driven systems, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes and Azure infrastructure. Provide hands-on technical leadership and review/write critical code. Mentor senior/staff engineers and raise engineering standards. Must-Have Skills:12+ years software engineering experience at Staff/Principal level. Expert Python; working knowledge of Go/Rust/Java/Kotlin. Strong production AI/LLM, RAG, agents, evaluation and inference experience. Distributed systems and event-driven architecture (Kafka/Azure Service Bus/Event Hubs). PostgreSQL at scale, Docker & Kubernetes. Strong Azure cloud experience: AWS/GCP is a plus. Experience with AI coding agents such as Codex/Claude Code/OpenCode. Strong architecture, communication, and technical leadership skills. Preferred:LangGraph/LangChain, vLLM/TGI/TensorRT-LLM, vector DBs (pgvector/Qdrant/Pinecone), Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, AI platform engineering, security/compliance, Arabic/voice AI, and government/regulated-sector experience
