Location: Santa Clara, CA About the RoleWe are looking for a Principal/Lead Android Mobile Software Engineer with deep expertise in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to build next-generation mobile applications that communicate with connected medical devices.

This role is primarily focused on Android (Kotlin/Java) while requiring some hands-on experience with iOS (Swift/Core Bluetooth).The ideal candidate has experience working in Medical Devices, MedTech, Healthcare, or other safety-critical industries, where reliability, security, and regulatory compliance are critical.Must-Have Skills8+ years of mobile application development experience.Strong expertise in Android development using Kotlin and Java.Hands-on experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication.Strong understanding of BLE operations including:Device scanning and discoverySecure pairing and bondingCharacteristic read/writeNotifications and indicationsBackground BLE servicesDevice connectivity troubleshootingExperience with Swift, Objective-C, or Core Bluetooth for iOS development.Experience working in Medical Devices, Healthcare, MedTech, or other regulated/safety-critical domains.Experience with Git, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and software development best practices.Strong debugging, analytical, and communication skills.Proven technical leadership and solution design experience.Preferred QualificationsExperience with IEC 62304 or regulated medical software development.Understanding of software documentation, quality systems, and compliance processes.Experience collaborating with hardware, firmware, QA, and cross-functional engineering teams.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop Android applications that securely connect with external devices using BLE.Implement BLE workflows including discovery, pairing, bonding, characteristic interactions, notifications, and firmware updates.Contribute to iOS development when required using Swift and Core Bluetooth.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and compliant mobile solutions.Write clean, scalable, testable, and well-documented code.Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical planning.Support verification, validation, and compliance documentation.Troubleshoot BLE communication, device interoperability, and production issues.Follow the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, code reviews, and documentation.
