Principal Electrical Design Engineer

The ClientOur Client is a global design and engineering company with a solid track record of delivering iconic projects worldwide.The RoleThe role involves leading the delivery of electrical design across multi-disciplinary projects, providing technical leadership, mentoring team members, managing project scope, budgets, and timelines, and ensuring high-quality, compliant, and innovative solutions. The role also includes client engagement, supporting bids and proposals, and contributing to the growth and development of the electrical discipline within the business.ResponsibilitiesLead the delivery of high-quality electrical design services across multi-disciplinary projects, acting as technical authority where required.Manage projects from proposal through to completion, including scope definition, programme, risk, quality, and financial performance in line with management systems.Plan, resource, and coordinate project teams effectively, working closely with regional and overseas offices to achieve efficient and cost-effective delivery.Ensure all designs meet statutory, regulatory, health and safety, and quality requirements, and lead or contribute to design reviews and technical assurance processes.Produce and review electrical designs, specifications, reports, and calculations, driving innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.Provide clear technical direction to project teams, mentoring engineers and supporting their technical development through project work.Maintain strong client relationships, supporting bids, proposals, and technical responses to prequalification and tender submissions.Monitor and manage project finances, including forecasting, invoicing, WIP, and working capital, ensuring commercial objectives are met.Stay informed of industry developments and emerging technologies, sharing knowledge and strengthening electrical capability across projects.Be flexible to travel as required to support project delivery across the Middle East, UK, Saudi Arabia, and India.QualificationsBachelor’s degree (BEng/BSc Hons) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 8 years’ post-graduate experience.Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional body.Proven experience leading electrical design and managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects.Experience working in the Middle East is preferred.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Extensive experience with industry-standard electrical engineering software.Knowledge of local authority requirements (e.g. Dubai) would be an advantage.
