Principal Electrical Engineer

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and delivering complex electrical systems that power some of the most demanding digital infrastructure projects.This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of the data centre sector—combining technical excellence with leadership while contributing to highly reliable, energy-efficient, and future-ready facilities.Technical Leadership & Design (Mission-Critical Systems)Lead the design of electrical systems for data centre and critical infrastructure projectsDevelop and review detailed designs for MV/LV power distribution, UPS systems, backup generators, switchgear, and critical power systemsEnsure designs meet uptime, redundancy (e.g., N+1, 2N), and resilience requirementsProvide technical oversight and ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practicesProject DeliveryManage electrical engineering packages across multiple data centre projects from concept through to commissioningCollaborate with multi disciplinary teams (mechanical, ICT, structural, BIM) to deliver integrated solutionsSupport project planning, budgeting, and risk management activitiesParticipate in design reviews, FAT/SAT processes, and commissioning phasesStakeholder EngagementEngage with clients, contractors, and vendors on technical solutions and delivery requirementsProvide expert advice on data centre electrical infrastructure and performance optimizationRepresent Black & White Engineering in client-facing engagements and technical discussionsMentorship& Team DevelopmentMentor and guide junior engineers and designers within the electrical teamPromote knowledge sharing across data centre best practices and lessons learnedContribute to building a high-performing, technically strong engineering teamInnovation& Continuous ImprovementDrive innovation in energy efficiency, redundancy optimisation, and sustainability in data centresStay current with evolving technologies such as modular data centres, renewable integration, and advanced monitoring systemsSupport the adoption of digital engineering and BIM in electrical design workflowsEDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplineChartered Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards accreditation (preferred)Previous Consultant experienceIES Electrical and Electronics Engineering Professional Membership desirable.Singapore Professional Engineer registration or progress towards beneficial.Proven experience in working within and running projects within a multi-disciplinary team with the successful delivery of the design for critical projects.Experience in project management and MEP engineering track record with some experience of data centres or other critical engineering facilities.Knowledge of MS Office applications Outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint etcKnowledge of Dialux, Trimble (Amtech) Etap/AutoCAD/Revit/ BIM/CAD calculation software.Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software.Significant experience in production of drawings, calculations, schedules & specifications for a range of building typesDemonstrate a thorough understanding of the design process.Peripheral experience in architecture, structures, civils, security and permitting.Excellent understanding of the various code requirements and standards across the APAC region.Possess exceptional clear communication skills and command of spoken/written English.Have an appreciation of different cultures/races and embrace the same.
