Principal (Lead) Machine Learning Engineer, Computer VisionFully Remote · United States · Meaningful EquityYou’ve built the models. Now own the direction. After an eight-figure Series A, a healthtech company is making its first principal-level ML hire. This is your opportunity to take ownership of the machine learning behind a connected health-monitoring device and help bring it into its next stage of development. You’ll decide how the models, data and architecture evolve, with the authority to put those decisions into practice. Your work will turn real-world images and sensor data into insights that help people better understand their health.Expect 80–90% hands-on work, alongside responsibility for the technical direction of the ML function. The team will stay lean for the next 18–24 months. You’ll build alongside a junior engineer, have a budget for another hire or two (depending on your recommendation) mentor colleagues and help shape the next hire, with direct influence across hardware, product and R&D.For someone who enjoys both difficult engineering and owning the outcome, there’s room here to make a lasting contribution. You’ll establish how the work gets done, see your decisions reach a physical product and share in what you build through meaningful equity. You’ll need to bring computer vision models you’ve personally trained and deployed, plus healthcare or medtech experience. Medical imaging, health-monitoring systems or SaMD would be particularly relevant, alongside the Python and production engineering skills to take your work from data through deployment.Fully remote across the US, with a preference for Boston or Austin and occasional in-person meetups.Interested?
