Principal Software Engineer

We are hiring a Principal Software Engineer for a fast growing SaaS company based in Dubai. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for defining the services and platform framework that shapes the productivity and output of the entire tech team.The roleDefine and design the overall architecture, services and platform framework for the company's SaaS offeringsEstablish best practices for system design, modularity and maintainability to enhance engineering productivityGuide the technology roadmap, ensuring scalability, security and high availabilityEnsure consistency in API design, data models and microservices architectureEvaluate and recommend new technologies, tools and frameworks to improve system performanceMentor and guide software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovationLead architecture reviews, code audits and system optimisation initiativesBalance trade offs between performance, cost and time to marketWork closely with Product and Engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business goalsWhat we are looking for10 or more years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering rolesProven expertise in designing and scaling cloud based SaaS platforms on AWS, GCP or AzureStrong background in microservices, event driven architecture and distributed systemsDeep knowledge of modern backend technologies such as Node.js, Java, Python or GoExperience with SQL, NoSQL and time series databases, including optimising data modelsProficiency in designing and implementing API gateways, authentication and security best practicesHands on experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes and HelmStrong understanding of observability, logging and monitoring strategiesAbility to lead technical discussions, conduct architecture reviews and drive decision making across teamsNice to haveExperience in fast growing SaaS environments with complex architectureKnowledge of machine learning infrastructure and AI powered applicationsStrong focus on developer experience and productivity improvementsCloud certifications in AWS or GCP
