Principal Engineer (.NET / Azure)Leading Consumer Technology OrganisationLondonHybridOne of our clients, a large-scale consumer technology business, is looking for a Principal Engineer to help shape engineering strategy and lead the development of highly scalable cloud platforms used by millions of customers.This is a senior technical leadership role focused on architecture, engineering excellence, platform modernisation, AI adoption, and mentoring engineering teams.Responsibilities:Define engineering standards, best practices, and technical strategyLead the design and delivery of cloud-native, distributed systemsProvide technical leadership to engineering teams and senior stakeholdersDrive adoption of modern engineering practices, AI, and automationChampion secure-by-design principles and engineering governanceImprove delivery through CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and platform engineeringImplement observability, monitoring, logging, and reliability frameworksKey Skills:Strong experience with C#, ASP.NET Core, Web API, Entity Framework, and MicroservicesDeep knowledge of Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, MongoDB, and TerraformExperience building scalable, high-availability distributed systemsStrong understanding of software architecture and cloud-native engineeringExperience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automationKnowledge of observability, monitoring, and site reliability practicesPractical experience using AI and Generative AI tools within engineering environmentsExperience:Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Architect backgroundProven experience defining engineering strategy within large-scale environmentsExperience delivering cloud transformation or platform modernisation initiatives
