Principal Software Engineer - Ruby on Rails (Vietnamese Talent)

About the job: We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to lead end-to-end development and delivery of production web applications, with a primary focus on Ruby on Rails, RESTful APIs, database optimization, and AWS cloud infrastructure. The role involves driving technical decisions, improving system performance and reliability, managing production releases, and maintaining high standards of code quality, security, and scalability. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of software engineering experience, strong ownership and cross-functional collaboration skills, and the ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools while ensuring reliable, secure, and maintainable code.Key ResponsibilitiesBackend Development: Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Ruby on Rails, RESTful APIs, and scalable service architectures.System Performance: Optimize database design, SQL queries, and application performance to improve system efficiency and reliability.Cloud Infrastructure: Build and operate cloud-native applications on AWS, leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and related technologies where appropriate.End-to-End Delivery: Own the development lifecycle from requirements clarification and technical design to implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.Engineering Quality: Establish coding standards, conduct code reviews, improve automated testing, and maintain clean, maintainable code.DevOps & Reliability: Improve CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, incident response, and release management to ensure safe and efficient deployments.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, QA, and DevOps teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.AI-Assisted Development: Use AI tools for prototyping, code generation, testing, and refactoring while ensuring output quality, security, and compliance.Requirements5+ years of software engineering experience, with substantial experience building and operating production web applications.Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, or demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to and work effectively with Rails codebases.Experience designing and operating RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and microservices.Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native application development.Strong knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL performance optimization.Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and production release management.Strong problem-solving, technical ownership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.Professional English proficiency for communication with global teams.
