Apply & track with Apply EdgePrincipal AP1000 SRO Instructor As an AP1000 SRO Instructor, you will support licensed and non-licensed operator training for AP1000 reactors and may support operating-fleet and global customer needs. The role combines technical learning, operating experience, instructional development, and advanced plant design to strengthen safe and effective plant operation and customer readiness.You will report to the US AP1000 Training Manager and will based at Westinghouse's Cranberry Woods headquarters in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. The position is hybrid at the manager's discretion and requires (on average) two to three days per week on-site, or as needed to support qualification, training delivery, simulator activities, customers, and project needs. Classroom and simulator support may require extended on-site periods. Travel is approximately 25% and may include domestic and international travelKey ResponsibilitiesRemain an active individual contributor while providing day-to-day technical and instructional leadership for individual classes assigned by the AP1000 Training Lead.Plan and coordinate instructor assignments and class execution within delegated scope; monitor near-term commitments, delivery readiness, resource needs, and schedule conflicts; and escalate issues requiring program-level action.Monitor and evaluate instructor delivery and work products using established criteria and provide documented input to the US AP1000 Training Manager for performance and development evaluations.Mentor Senior AP1000 SRO Instructors, AP1000 SRO Instructors, and Junior AP1000 SRO Instructors; coordinate qualification planning, observation, readiness assessment, knowledge transfer, and succession within assigned class or team scope.Provide technical and instructional leadership for major training products, complex training needs analyses, curriculum issues, simulator concerns, customer needs, and cross-functional interfaces assigned to the class or team.Perform independent verification of training products when qualified, assigned, and permitted by governing procedures; maintain independence and document results as required.Oversee consistency, approved-source traceability, technical accuracy, configuration control, implementation readiness, and effectiveness across assigned training products.Use approved technical sources and comply with applicable review, traceability, and configuration-control requirements.Lead significant operating-experience, corrective-action, procedure-change, plant-issue, simulator-correction, and training-improvement responses within delegated authority, including testing and verification activities as qualified.Oversee effective use and improvement of digital learning content, multimedia, video, models, simulator-based materials, and other instructional technologies within assigned scope.Represent the assigned class or instructor team in customer, leadership, training committee, and cross-functional discussions as assignedObtain and maintain assigned technical, instructor, simulator, site-access, security, customer, and AP1000 SRO Instructor qualifications.QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, science, technology, education, or a related discipline; relevant U.S. Navy nuclear training and qualification; or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.Minimum 5 years of applicable U.S. Navy or commercial nuclear plant, operations, commissioning, or licensed operator training experience.Demonstrated advanced capability in nuclear operations training, curriculum ownership, simulator instruction, instructor development, training effectiveness evaluation, or licensed operator readiness.Demonstrated ability to lead individual classes, coordinate instructor assignments, monitor instructional delivery, provide evaluation input, and remain accountable for individual technical and training work.Demonstrated ability to perform qualified reviews or independent verification, manage interfaces, identify risks, and escalate decisions outside delegated authority.Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaborate with Training, Operations, Engineering, Simulator, Commissioning, customers, and other stakeholders.Ability to obtain and maintain required nuclear power plant access, customer access, and assigned qualifications.Ability to travel approximately 25%, including domestic and international travel, as required.Preferred QualificationsCurrent or previous NRC SRO license; commercial licensed operator instructor qualification; senior U.S. Navy nuclear supervisor or instructor qualification; licensed operator program experience; AP1000 plant, systems, operations, commissioning, or training experience; or extensive simulator instruction experience.Experience leading technical or instructional teams, coordinating class delivery, developing instructors, administering qualification activities, governing curriculum, integrating operating experience, transferring knowledge, or assessing readiness.We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices.
