As a Principal Tech Lead, you will provide technical leadership across multiple squads, ensuring architectural vision is translated into high-quality, production-ready solutions. Working closely with Mission Architects, Squad Tech Leads, DevSecOps, QA, Security, and Product teams, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the successful delivery of strategic technology initiatives that support Worldline's payment platforms across Europe.Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesLead the technical design and implementation of complex initiatives spanning multiple engineering squadsPartner with Squad Tech Leads to solve high-risk and high-complexity technical challenges and accelerate deliveryAct as a hands-on technical contributor where deep expertise is required, contributing to critical solution design and software implementationTranslate architectural guidance into practical engineering patterns, reusable frameworks, and reference implementationsDrive architectural modernization initiatives, supporting platform evolution, cloud adoption, and technology transformationCollaborate closely with Mission Architects, DevSecOps, QA, Security, and Product teams to ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirementsIdentify systemic engineering challenges and improvement opportunities, escalating recommendations to Guild Leads and ArchitectsChampion engineering best practices, technical quality, and operational excellence across multiple squadsSupport technical decision-making, risk management, and cross-team dependency planningMentor Tech Leads and senior engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing throughout the engineering organizationWho Are We Looking ForYou are an experienced technical leader who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges while enabling teams to deliver their best work. You combine deep technical expertise with strong collaboration skills and have a proven ability to influence engineering direction across multiple teams. You thrive in fast-paced environments, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.On Top Of That, You HaveBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experienceFull working proficiency in EnglishExtensive experience as a Principal Engineer, Principal Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Lead Software Engineer, or similar senior technical leadership roleProven experience leading complex, cross-team software delivery in enterprise environmentsStrong expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and modern engineering practicesExperience driving architecture modernization, platform transformation, and technical strategyExcellent problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve high-impact technical risksStrong experience mentoring technical leaders and influencing engineering practices across multiple teamsDeep understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability, security, scalability, resilience, and performance engineeringExperience working within Agile product development organizationsKnowledge of the payments industry is considered a strong advantagePerks & BenefitsAt Worldline, you'll get the chance to be at the heart of the global payments technology industry and shape how the world pays and gets paid.
