Location: Houston, TX, or Aurora, COSalary: up to $130,000Travel: Approximately 25%About the RoleWe are seeking a Central Utility Controls Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and commissioning of automation systems for boilers, chillers, water treatment/polishing, Balance of Plant (BOP), CHP, and other central utility applications.The ideal candidate will combine strong PLC/DCS/HMI experience with a solid understanding of industrial processes and process control.ResponsibilitiesDevelop functional specifications, Sequences of Operation (SOO), and BOMs.Design, program, test, and deploy PLC, DCS, and HMI systems.Support electrical drawing and controls documentation packages.Develop and execute FAT and SAT test plans.Support loop checks, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.Develop controls solutions for boilers, chillers, water systems, CHP, BOP, and related utility processes.Provide customer technical support and training.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.3–6 years of controls, automation, or process controls experience.Experience with PLC, DCS, and HMI systems, including platforms such as Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, AVEVA, Ignition, Emerson DeltaV, or similar.Experience with process applications such as boiler controls, Burner Management Systems, chiller controls, water treatment, CHP, district heating/cooling, or BOP.Familiarity with protocols including Modbus, EtherNet/IP, DNP3, OPC, BACnet, or Profinet.Ability to travel approximately 25%.Preferred: PE license, project leadership experience, and strong knowledge of process systems, instrumentation, control loops, and commissioning.Compensation & Benefitsup to $130,000 base salary + performance bonusMedical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchGenerous PTOTravel incentives and per diemTraining and professional developmentg.baker@x4engineering.com
