Procurement Manager – Food CommoditiesLocation: Muscat, OmanIndustry: Food Commodities / FMCG / TradingExperience: 8–12+ yearsProduct Categories: Sugar, Rice, Palm Oil, Edible Oils & Other Food CommoditiesAbout the RoleOur client, a growing commodities trading and distribution business in Oman, is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager – Food Commodities to lead the sourcing and procurement of key food commodities including sugar, rice, palm oil, edible oils and related products.The role will be responsible for developing international supplier relationships, negotiating competitive commercial terms, monitoring commodity markets and ensuring a reliable and cost-effective supply of products to meet business requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute procurement strategies for sugar, rice, palm oil, edible oils and other food commodities.Identify, evaluate and onboard reliable international suppliers, manufacturers, mills, refineries and commodity traders.Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across key sourcing markets.Negotiate price, payment terms, MOQ, quality specifications, delivery schedules and contractual terms.Monitor global commodity prices, market movements, supply-demand trends, freight costs and currency fluctuations.Manage the complete procurement cycle from supplier sourcing and quotation through contracting, purchase orders, shipment and delivery.Work closely with shipping and freight partners on import documentation, shipment schedules and delivery coordination.Evaluate supplier performance based on price, quality, reliability and delivery performance.Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, contracts and purchase commitments.Prepare regular reports covering purchase prices, commodity trends, savings, supplier performance, inventory and upcoming procurement requirements.Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and applicable Oman import, food safety and regulatory requirements.Candidate Profile8–12+ years of procurement experience, preferably within food commodities, FMCG, food trading, distribution or import/export.Strong hands-on experience specifically in sugar, rice, palm oil, edible oils or similar commodities.Established network of international commodity suppliers/traders will be highly advantageous.Strong understanding of commodity pricing, international sourcing, import/export and shipping processes.Excellent commercial negotiation and supplier management skills.
