Procurement Specialist

About the RoleThe role involves managing procurement activities and ensuring the timely availability of materials required for operations.ResponsibilitiesManage procurement of mechanical and electrical components, consumables, capital equipment (CAPEX), and various services.Handle domestic and international sourcing activities to ensure uninterrupted supply and competitive procurement costs.Float RFQs/RFPs, evaluate supplier quotations, and conduct commercial negotiations on pricing, lead time, payment terms, and BAFO (Best and Final Offer).Collaborate with engineering teams, internal customers, and suppliers to obtain technical and commercial clarity.Create and manage purchase orders, monitor order status, and ensure timely material deliveries.Coordinate with Stores and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) and invoice processing.Work closely with Quality, Logistics, EXIM, Finance, Engineering, and Stores teams to meet business objectives.Monitor supplier performance and procurement KPIs related to cost, quality, delivery, and service levels.Drive digitization initiatives, procurement automation, and data-driven decision-making processes.Manage the complete Procure-to-Pay (P2P) cycle with a sound understanding of cash flow management, working capital, and P&L impact.Ensure compliance with procurement policies, SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements.Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategic sourcing initiatives.QualificationsB.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.Required SkillsMinimum 5+ years of experience in Direct Procurement.Experience in Aerospace, Defence, Aviation, Automotive, Heavy Engineering, or Manufacturing industries will be preferred.Proven experience handling high-volume procurement transactions and supplier management.Strong working knowledge of SAP MM (SAP S/4 HANA preferred).Expertise in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, and Vendor Management.Experience managing domestic and international suppliers.Understanding of import/export processes and commercial procurement practices.Knowledge of procurement analytics, reporting, and process digitization.Preferred SkillsAerospace or Defence procurement experience.Exposure to global sourcing and supplier development.Cost optimization and value engineering experience.Knowledge of commercial aspects including cash flow, working capital, and profitability impact.
