We work directly with producers and buyers across multiple continents to build reliable, transparent, and efficient supply chains.Role Overview PHOSMARK Inc. is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist based in Nigeria to lead the sourcing of urea fertilizer directly from local producers. This role is central to strengthening our upstream supply base in West Africa, ensuring supply reliability, regulatory compliance, and commercially competitive terms. The ideal candidate combines strong industry relationships, sharp negotiation skills, and a rigorous approach to counterparty due diligence.Key Responsibilities1. Producer Relationship DevelopmentIdentify, approach, and establish direct commercial relationships with urea fertilizer producers in Nigeria and the wider region.Serve as PHOSMARK's primary point of contact with producers, building long-term, trust-based partnerships.Monitor producer plant capacity, production schedules, and output quality to inform sourcing decisions.Represent PHOSMARK at industry events, site visits, and producer meetings.2. Know Your Counterparty (KYC) & Due DiligenceConduct thorough KYC on prospective and existing producers, including corporate structure, beneficial ownership, licensing, and production capacity verification.Collect, verify, and maintain documentation required for internal compliance and trade finance purposes (certificates of incorporation, production licenses, quality certifications, etc.).Flag red flags or compliance concerns to management promptly and coordinate remediation or escalation as needed.Ensure all producer files meet PHOSMARK's internal compliance standards prior to contract execution.3. Negotiation & Procurement ExecutionNegotiate commercial terms (price, volume, payment terms, delivery/incoterms, quality specifications) with producers in line with PHOSMARK's procurement targets.Support structuring of offtake agreements and framework contracts in coordination with the commercial and legal teams.Track progress against monthly/quarterly procurement volume targets and report performance to the Head of Commercial.Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure procurement terms align with shipping schedules and delivery obligations.RequirementsBased in Nigeria, with willingness to travel to producer facilities as required.Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fertilizer, agri-commodity, or industrial commodity procurement/trading.Established network of contacts among Nigerian (and ideally broader West African) urea/fertilizer producers.Solid understanding of KYC/due diligence processes in a commodity trading context.Strong negotiation skills with a track record of closing supply agreements.Working knowledge of Incoterms, trade finance basics, and export/import documentation relevant to fertilizer trade.Fluent English (written and spoken); additional local languages an asset.High integrity, discretion, and ability to work independently while reporting regularly to the head office.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience specifically in urea or nitrogen-based fertilizer procurement.Existing relationships with Nigerian producers (e.g., Indorama, Notore, Dangote Fertilizer, or similar).Degree in business, agriculture, supply chain, or a related field.What we offerCompetitive compensation aligned with procurement performance and volume targets.Direct exposure to international commodity trading operations.Opportunity to shape PHOSMARK's West African sourcing strategy from the ground up.
