Procurement Team Leader

Job PurposeLead the domestic & import procurement function to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, packaging materials, engineering items, and services for lead acid battery manufacturing while delivering cost savings, supplier development, quality, and inventory optimization.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute domestic & import sourcing and procurement strategies.Manage procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, engineering items, MRO, and indirect purchases.Lead commercial negotiations, annual contracts, and supplier selection.Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and working capital improvement initiatives.Develop alternate suppliers and strengthen supplier performance through regular reviews.Ensure timely availability of materials to support uninterrupted plant operations.Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Finance, and Logistics.Mitigate supply chain risks through contingency planning and supplier diversification.Ensure compliance with procurement policies, statutory requirements, and ethical sourcing practices.Lead, mentor, and develop the domestic procurement team to achieve departmental objectives.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Annual Cost SavingsOn-Time Material AvailabilityAlternate Source DevelopmentDigitalization of entire Procurement Cycle TimeQualification & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in engineering; MBA in Supply Chain/Operations preferred.12–18 years of procurement experience in manufacturing, Experience in Lead Acid Battery, Automotive, Electrical, or Chemical industries preferred.Key CompetenciesStrategic SourcingCommercial NegotiationSupplier DevelopmentCost OptimizationLeadership & Team ManagementAnalytical & Problem-Solving SkillsCross-functional Collaboration
