Product Design Engineer

Role: Mechanical Product Design EngineerMin Experience Required: 5+ YearsPurpose: Own the product's physical architecture, component packaging, mounting, serviceability, and manufacturabilityRequired Competencies:• Strong proficiency in three-dimensional CAD and mechanical drawing.• Ability to convert system requirements into complete mechanical product designs.• Ability to design fixed roadside, tripod-mounted, and various types.• Ability to design enclosures for IP65, IP66, or IP67 protection levels.• Ability to calculate internal heat generation and thermal dissipation.• Ability to design passive cooling, heat sinking, conduction paths, forced ventilation, or heat exchangers.• Strong knowledge of sheet-metal design, bends, flanges, hems, stiffeners, brackets, weldments, and mounting plates.• Ability to design machined, formed, welded, and fabricated components.• Ability to perform tolerance stack-up and define manufacturing tolerances.• Ability to design access panels, hinges, covers, latches, adjustment mechanisms, brackets, and service interfaces.• Ability to design against vibration, impact, wind loading, handling damage, and mechanical fatigue.• Ability to produce fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, exploded views, and bills of materials.• Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and design for assembly.• Ability to work directly with laser-cutting, bending, CNC-machining, welding, and coating suppliers.Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field.Preferred Background:• Industrial product design.• Sheet-metal products.• Thermal engineering• Roadside equipment.• Outdoor electronics.• Automotive equipment.• Defense or ruggedized systems.
