Avaz AAC is a picture- and text-based communication app designed for children and adults with complex communication needs.Our mission is to make effective communication accessible to every person who needs it. We believe meaningful innovation comes from combining curiosity, open collaboration and a deep understanding of our users.What you’ll doOwn the end-to-end design process for Avaz AAC and other upcoming apps and portals in the Avaz suite. You will take products and features from early research and problem definition through interaction design, visual design, prototyping, developer handoff, implementation review and post-launch iteration.You will work closely with product managers, developers and QA to translate complex communication needs into intuitive, accessible and dependable product experiences across Android, iOS and web platforms.Role and ResponsibilitiesOwn the end-to-end design of Avaz AAC and other upcoming apps and portals in the Avaz suite, from initial concepts to shipped product state.Learn directly from users: run research and usability tests, watch how people use what you ship, and turn what you find into clear design decisions. Work closely with product managers to convert product requirements and user needs into user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity interface design.Design mobile experiences for Android and iOS while accounting for platform conventions, device variations, screen sizes and interaction patterns.Build and grow a shared design system across Avaz products so the experience stays consistent as we scale.Work closely with developers and QA while the product is being built, so what ships matches the design. Skills and Attributes2 to 3 years of experience in product design, UI/UX design or a related digital design role.Demonstrated experience designing mobile applications for both Android and iOS.Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, prototypes, libraries and developer handoff.Strong understanding of user-centred design, interaction design, information architecture and visual-interface design.Ability to translate complex requirements and varied user needs into clear, intuitive and implementable design solutions.Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain design decisions and work effectively with product managers, developers and QA.Good to haveExperience designing AAC, assistive technology, health technology, special-education products or products for people with diverse access needs.Experience designing emotionally sensitive user experiences and conversational interactions, including dialogue flows, tone, prompts, responses and feedback.Familiarity with WCAG, Apple Accessibility, Android Accessibility, screen readers or other alternative access methods.Experience creating or maintaining a design system or UI/UX style guide.Familiarity with front-end development workflows and the technical considerations involved in implementing interface designs.
