Travel perks included.Community & Fun: We believe in building connections beyond just work tasks, so we encourage team building trips.What you'll doYou'll work across the core product surfaces of our B2B e-commerce platform:Customer Portal — a web portal where B2B customers manage orders, invoices, support tickets, and account data pulled from multiple internal systems.Regional E-commerce — the core storefront across Latin America and the US, including managing and maintaining a large product catalog and implementing SEO best practices.Other PlatformsDay to day, you will:Design, build, and ship features end-to-end across frontend and backend, from technical design through deployment and monitoring.Develop responsive, accessible web interfaces using Next.js with TypeScript.Build and maintain backend services and APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) in Node.js, integrating with internal systems (orders, suppliers, catalog, billing, support).Design and evolve data models across relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL/caching stores (MongoDB, Redis) with scale and performance in mind.Manage and maintain a large, multi-market product catalog, and implement SEO best practices across the e-commerce storefront.Write automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end) and participate actively in code review.Deploy and operate services using CI/CD pipelines, containers (Docker), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Apply AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate delivery, and contribute to embedding AI/LLM features into product and internal tooling.Monitor performance and security in production, and debug issues across the full stack.Collaborate directly with Product and leadership to translate business requirements into technical solutions and to shape scope and priorities.Objectives of the roleHelp design, build, and scale the core product surfaces of Tropical IT's B2B e-commerce platform for IT hardware across Latin America and the US — working end-to-end, from data model to UI, across a small, senior engineering team with direct exposure to product and leadership decisions.Ship production-grade features end-to-end, owning quality, performance, and reliability across the stack.Help the platform scale as the catalog, supplier network, and regional footprint grow.Bring AI-assisted development practices into the team's day-to-day workflow.What you'll bringProfessional experience as a Product Engineer (or equivalent frontend + backend experience), having shipped production software end-to-end.Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with hands-on experience in Next.js.Solid backend experience in Node.js, designing and consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs.Practical experience with a relational database (PostgreSQL or similar) and comfort working with a NoSQL or caching store (MongoDB, Redis).Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.Understanding of authentication/authorization patterns (JWT, OAuth 2.0) and secure coding practices.Practical, hands-on use of AI coding assistants as part of your day-to-day workflow.Ability to work closely with different teams (e.g., Sales, Operations, Customer Support), understanding their processes and translating them into product requirements and features.Strong ownership, autonomy, and communication skills — comfortable operating in a fast-moving, resource-constrained startup environment.Professional working proficiency in English (team and stakeholders are distributed across LatAm and the US).Nice to have:Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) into production features.AI spec-driven development — experience writing specs/prompts that drive AI-assisted code generation.Familiarity with microservices architecture, event-driven systems, or infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).Background in B2B marketplaces, e-commerce, supply chain, or logistics platforms.Experience with data pipelines or lightweight ML/AI model integration.Hands-on experience with our tools: HubSpot, Odoo, BigCommerce, and/or SparkLayer.Prior startup experience or comfort building products from 0 to 1.Role detailsEmployment type: Full-time.Modality: Hybrid — WeWork, Av.
