Production Planner and Buyer

Our client is seeking a Production Planner & Buyer for an excellent position located near Ontario, CA or surrounding area. Responsibilities include:Oversee master production planning and scheduling, managing customer demand forecasts and available capacity.Build detailed daily and weekly production schedules that focus on utilization, workforce allocation, and material flow.Direct all procurement activities covering raw materials, components, outsourced services, and operational supplies.Negotiate supplier agreements, track performance metrics, and foster partnerships.Continuously monitor inventory positions and prevent shortages or excess stock.Adjust planning based on shifting demand patterns and production constraints.Authorize purchase orders and maintain transaction records within system.Partner cross-functionally to align planning and buying.Troubleshoot availability issues, quality, and delivery.Manage status reports, purchasing progress, and emerging supply-chain risksFocus on continuous-improvement initiativesQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent mix of education and hands-on manufacturing experience.At least 5+ years of progressive work in production planning, scheduling, and procurement within a manufacturing setting.Strong understanding of production scheduling, MRP, and purchasing workflows.Proven proficiency with ERP systemsExperience reviewing contracts and terms for compliance and risk.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner across the businesses and with vendors.
