This is a hands-on role for someone who understands that great coffee comes from consistency, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. You’ll work closely with our Head Roaster to produce coffee that meets our roasting and sensory standards while helping keep our production operation running smoothly.The Production Roaster will roast daily production coffee based on fulfillment needs, as well as select micro lots. You’ll also support quality control, green coffee receiving, warehouse operations, equipment maintenance, packaging, and cold brew production.We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works with urgency, and wants to continue developing their roasting skills and understanding of the coffee supply chain.

What You'll Do

A lot of Roasting & Quality ControlRoast coffee according to the daily production and fulfillment scheduleRoast select micro lots under the direction of the Head RoasterMonitor roast profiles and make adjustments as needed to maintain consistencyWork closely with the Head Roaster and Director of Coffee to ensure coffee meets established sensory targetsSet up and assist with quality control and cuppingParticipate in weekly cuppings and continue developing your understanding of our coffeesProduction & WarehouseFill and organize green coffee binsStage and rearrange green coffee bags as needed for receiving and productionAssist with receiving and inspecting green coffee shipmentsOperate production equipment including scales, grinders, sealers, and packaging machineryOperate a forklift as neededAssist the Head Roaster with production and other projects as neededHelp maintain an organized and efficient production environmentCold BrewProduce cold brew 1–2 times per week according to established recipes and proceduresMaintain quality and consistency throughout the cold brew production processCleaning, Maintenance & SafetyClean and maintain the roaster and related equipment on a regular scheduleMaintain a clean, organized, and safe roastery and warehouseFollow all company safety procedures and protocolsSafely operate production and warehouse equipmentMaintain focus and attention to detail while working around loud roasting and production machineryWhat We're Looking ForPassion and excitement for coffee and a positive attitudeBig team player mentality who loves roasting coffee all day longAt least 2 years of professional coffee roasting experience preferred, with high-volume experience.Strong understanding of coffee roasting fundamentals and quality controlPrevious warehouse, production, or coffee industry experience preferredExperience operating production or warehouse equipment is a plusStrong attention to detail and commitment to consistencyReliable, dependable, and able to work with a sense of urgencyComfortable working independently and as part of a teamWillingness to learn and continue developing your coffee knowledgeMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment restrictionsReliable transportation requiredPhysical RequirementsThis is an active production position in a working roastery and warehouse.Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periodsAbility to safely lift and move heavy coffee bags and production materials Ability to work in a physically demanding warehouse and roastery environmentAbility to handle green coffee bags weighing up to 70 kg (154 lbs.)
