About Downtown DesignOver the past decade of operating in the Middle East, Downtown Design has firmly established itself as the leading contemporary and quality design fair in the Middle East and a catalyst for growth in the region’s creative scene. Dedicated to original and contemporary, the fair showcases an edited selection of the latest collections, innovative products and design solutions by design brands and manufacturers from around the world, alongside limited-edition and bespoke design by studios, collectives and independent designers from the region and beyond. The fair is complemented by a collateral programme of pop-up concepts, creative and live talks, catering to each relevant audience; from international A&ID professionals or HNWIs to local homeowners and design-curious consumers, alike.Role OverviewThis role supports the successful delivery of the fair’s talks programme, special events, and curated features through comprehensive coordination, administrative tracking, and on-the-ground operational support. Working closely with speakers, moderators, and cross-functional teams, including AV, media crews, and contractors, the role plays a key part in managing speaker logistics, securing necessary permits and materials, updating digital schedules, and overseeing live feature areas such as The Forum and Lounges. It is well suited to a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills, capable of multitasking and ensuring seamless execution in a fast-paced event environment.Responsibilities:Assist in the production and coordination of the talks programme, events, and other programming aspects taking place at the fair.Organize, manage, and maintain materials received by participants and speakers efficiently.Liaise with speakers for the talks programme and coordinating all aspects of their presence before and during the fair, including managing registrations (VIP passes), compiling talk descriptions, speaker biographies, presentations and required documents for DTCM.Support with the onsite management of feature areas, including coordinating with speakers and moderators, AV teams, photographers, film crews, contractors, and other suppliers, ensuring its smooth running.Support administrative processes, arranging schedules, website postings, tracking statuses, and database management.Perform additional tasks as required by the event management team to ensure the successful execution of the event.The ideal candidate should be able to do the following:Ability to interact positively with speakers, address their needs, and provide high-quality support.Willingness to adapt to changing circumstances and perform additional tasks as needed.Ability to work extended hours or adjust schedules as required by event demandsExceptional interpersonal skills to provide excellent service to exhibitorsAbility to handle inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain a positive demeanor.Ability to convey information and instructions effectively to speakers, participants and team members.Quick thinking and adaptability to address and resolve issues as they arise.Ability to remain calm under pressure and find effective solutions.Strong organizational skills to ensure smooth operations during the event.This is a full-time, on-site traineeship running from 5 October to 13 November. Candidates must already be based in the UAE and hold a valid UAE residency visa.
