You'll work closely with Project Managers and operational teams, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of complex construction projects while playing a key role in project financial performance.Key Responsibilities:Project Financial ManagementPrepare and issue project invoices and supporting documentation.Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.Produce job cost reports, forecasting updates, and financial analyses.Participate in monthly project forecasting meetings and identify financial risks or trends.Ensure month-end reporting and project reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.Contract Administration & ComplianceAdminister project contracts and approved change orders.Maintain accurate project budgets and financial records.Reconcile change order logs and project documentation.Ensure compliance with client contract requirements and subcontract agreements.Maintain insurance certificates, WSBC documentation, statutory declarations, payment certificates, and project closeout records.Support internal and external financial audits.Project Systems & AdministrationSet up new projects within the company's construction ERP system.Maintain organized and audit-ready project documentation.Investigate job cost discrepancies and work collaboratively with Project Managers to resolve issues.Support accurate project reporting through consistent data management.Project ScopeCommercial mechanical constructionInstitutional projectsIndustrial constructionPlumbing, HVAC, ventilation, and fire protection systemsMulti-million-dollar construction projects from project startup through closeoutWhat You Bring:Required3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally within construction or a project-based environment.Strong understanding of Job costing, Progress billing, Change order administration, Project financial reporting and Subcontractor invoicing.Experience using construction ERP software.Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance, operations, project management, subcontractors, and clients.Nice to HaveDiploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.Experience working for a mechanical contractor, general contractor, or specialty trade contractor.Familiarity with BC construction regulations, WSBC requirements, and the BC Builders Lien Act.Working toward (or interested in pursuing) a CPA designation.Experience supporting large commercial, institutional, or industrial construction projects.Working EnvironmentFull-time, permanent position.In-office role based in Burnaby, BC.Collaborative finance team supporting multiple project managers.Exposure to the complete lifecycle of major construction projects.Cross-functional environment working alongside operations, project management, and field teams.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: $75,000-$85,000 per year, based on experienceFull-time permanent employmentOpportunity for long-term career growthStable and well-established employerCollaborative and supportive team environmentExposure to large-scale mechanical construction projectsWhy This Role?:Join one of Western Canada's most respected mechanical contractors.Gain valuable experience supporting complex commercial and institutional construction projects.Work closely with experienced Project Managers and finance professionals in a collaborative environment.Build a long-term career with a growing organization that values professional development and internal advancement.Rightway Recruitment is managing this search on behalf of our client.
