Project Accountant

Contegra Construction is hiring an experienced Project Accountant to manage the accounting and financial administration of multiple construction projects while partnering closely with Project Managers, Operations, and our Accounting team.This role is ideal for a detail-oriented construction accounting professional who understands job costing, owner billing, subcontractor payments, contracts, change orders, and lien waivers. You’ll play an important role in maintaining accurate project financials and helping our project teams deliver successful results.What You’ll Be DoingManaging accounting and financial administration for multiple construction projects.Partnering with Project Managers to maintain accurate project financial information and resolve accounting issues.Preparing and processing owner billings and required supporting documentation.Reviewing and reconciling project costs, invoices, commitments, and financial transactions.Assisting with project cost reporting, budget reconciliation, forecasting, and financial reviews.Setting up and maintaining owner contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, professional service agreements, and change orders.Processing owner and subcontractor change orders and maintaining accurate contract values.Reviewing subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy, proper coding, approvals, and contract compliance.Coordinating subcontractor and vendor payments.Tracking subcontractor and sub-tier lien waivers and following up on outstanding documentation.Maintaining accurate project accounting records in Vista (formerly Viewpoint).Working within Procore to coordinate project financial information and documentation.Monitoring accounts receivable and assisting with billing and payment issues.Supporting project closeout, including final billings, commitment reconciliation, lien waivers, and financial documentation.Maintaining complete, organized, and audit-ready project records.Identifying discrepancies and working proactively with project teams to resolve financial or documentation issues.What We’re Looking ForMinimum of 2 years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting, job cost accounting, or a similar role.Experience working for a general contractor is strongly preferred.Previous experience with Vista (formerly Viewpoint) is required.Procore experience is preferred.Experience with construction job costing, owner billing, subcontractor payments, change orders, and lien waivers.Understanding of construction contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and project accounting processes.Strong numerical, analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate, timely work.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage accounting responsibilities across multiple projects and competing deadlines.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Project Managers, Accounting, and Operations.Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.Dependable, organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.What To ExpectPrimarily office-based position with regular collaboration across Accounting and Operations.Responsibility for the financial administration of multiple active construction projects.Frequent interaction with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and other internal team members.A fast-paced environment requiring strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through.An opportunity to become a trusted financial partner to project teams and contribute directly to successful project outcomes.Compensation & BenefitsContegra offers a competitive compensation package, including:Competitive compensation based on experience.Performance-based bonus opportunities.Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) participation with company contribution.401(k) plan with company contribution.Company-paid health and dental insurance for employees.Company-paid short-term disability insurance.Company-paid long-term disability insurance.Company-paid life insurance.Paid holidays.Generous paid time off.Apply TodayIf you’re an experienced construction accounting professional who takes pride in accuracy, organization, and being a reliable partner to project teams, we’d love to talk with you about joining Contegra Construction.Contegra Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
