This position is responsible for managing project-related accounting activities, including setting up new projects in the accounting system, tracking budgets, recording costs, and preparing project financial reports. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing contracts, monitoring billing and collections, processing change orders, reconciling project accounts, and supporting project managers with accurate financial data. The Project Accountant will collaborate with operations, finance, and leadership teams to ensure compliance with company policies, support timely month-end closing, and help maintain strong financial controls.Qualifications Strong project accounting and general accounting skills, including budgeting, cost tracking, and account reconciliation.Proficiency with accounting and ERP software, spreadsheets, and financial reporting tools.Knowledge of billing, collections, and revenue recognition practices, ideally in construction, fire protection, or related service industries.Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret contracts and project financial data.Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, operations teams, and leadership.High attention to detail, organization, and time management abilities to handle multiple projects and deadlines.Understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements; familiarity with industry codes and regulations is a plus.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are an advantage.Prior experience in project-based or construction accounting is strongly preferred.
