In this role, you'll partner closely with project managers, operations, and the accounting team to ensure accurate job costing, timely billing, and clear financial reporting. This is a great opportunity for an accountant with construction experience who wants to grow their career with a company that values accuracy, collaboration, and accountability.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up new jobs in the accounting system, including budgets, cost codes, contract values, and retention terms.Track and analyze job costs throughout the life of each project, identifying variances and working with project managers to resolve issues.Prepare and maintain work-in-process (WIP) schedules and support monthly revenue recognition on a percentage-of-completion basis.Process and track change orders, ensuring they are properly documented, approved, and reflected in budgets and billings.Manage subcontractor compliance, including insurance certificates, lien waivers, and contract documentation.Review and code vendor and subcontractor invoices to the correct jobs and cost codes.Monitor accounts receivable and retention balances, and follow up on outstanding payments.Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, and project-level financial reporting.Support project closeout, including final billings, retention release, and final lien waivers.Assist with annual audits, bonding and surety requests, and other ad hoc projects as needed.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.2–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in construction or project-based accounting.Working knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.Experience with progress billing, AIA pay applications, change orders, and lien waivers.Familiarity with construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE (Timberline), Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, Procore, or similar.Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations.Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors.
