Our client, a leading national construction company in Houston, is looking for a Project Accountant to support their expanding project portfolio. This role sits at the center of operations and finance—ideal for someone who understands construction accounting and enjoys owning the financial side of projects from start to finish.Project Billing & Revenue TrackingBuild and manage schedules of values (SOV) at project kickoff and secure client approvalPrepare and review AIA progress billings, ensuring accuracy and completeness before submissionTrack percent-complete progress and align billings with project milestonesMaintain organized records of all invoices and supporting documentationAccounts Receivable & CollectionsOversee invoicing timelines and ensure deadlines are consistently metMonitor outstanding receivables and proactively follow up on past-due balancesMaintain and analyze aging reports, escalating risks as neededCommunicate with clients to resolve billing questions and drive collectionsJob Costing & Payables SupportProcess vendor and subcontractor invoices tied to specific jobsMatch invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentationReview contracts, work orders, and lien documents to validate payment amountsSupport accurate job costing and financial tracking across projectsContracts, Compliance & DocumentationManage key project documentation including lien waivers, insurance certificates, W-9s, and closeout packagesMaintain subcontractor compliance and ensure all required documents are currentOversee subcontractor systems/portals and ensure proper project accessHandle change orders and ensure updates flow through to billing and accounting systemsSystems & CoordinationAdd/remove subcontractors and maintain accurate project data in the ERPPartner closely with project managers, operations, and finance leadershipRespond to internal and external inquiries related to billing and project financialsWhat They’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field2–4 years of construction accounting experience (AR + AP exposure)Strong understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, AIA billingExperience working within an ERP system (Dynamics 365 is a plus)Familiarity with construction tools like Procore or Textura is highly preferredWhy This Opportunity Stands OutJoin a reputable, national construction firm with a strong pipeline of projectsWork closely with both operations and finance—high visibility roleOpportunity to grow within a stable, expanding organization401(k) + profit sharingComprehensive health, dental, and vision coverageOn-site gym + access to personal trainingWellness incentives and PTO
