This senior role involves overseeing all phases of the project, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing, while ensuring alignment with the client's vision, budget, timeline, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The Project Director will lead and coordinate multiple teams, stakeholders, contractors, and consultants, ensuring the project progresses efficiently and meets its strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the project from inception to completion, ensuring the project's objectives, including quality, scope, budget, and timelines, are met.
- Define the project vision, goals, and key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure alignment with the client’s strategic objectives.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive project management plan outlining key deliverables, milestones, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, stakeholders, and senior management to ensure alignment on key decisions and provide project status updates.
- Ensure strong coordination between internal and external stakeholders, including design teams, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.2. Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop detailed project plans that define clear objectives, tasks, and milestones for each phase of construction.
- Collaborate with the Planning Manager to ensure that the project schedule is aligned with overall project goals and that all deadlines are met.
- Proactively identify potential project delays or risks and implement effective mitigation strategies to maintain the schedule.
- Oversee the establishment of timelines for construction, procurement, and commissioning, ensuring efficient and seamless coordination across all stages.3. Budget & Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring all costs are accounted for and that the project is delivered within financial parameters.
- Monitor and control project costs, ensuring timely payments, cost-effective procurement of materials, and proper contract management.AD/JDP/F/001 Page 2 of 4 18 Nov 2024 Revision No. 00
- Approve cost variations, change orders, and invoices, ensuring that any deviations from the budget are documented and justified.
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager to ensure financial risks are minimized and the project remains profitable.
- Provide regular financial reports to senior leadership, including cost analysis, projected expenditure, and any financial risks.4. Risk Management & Quality Control:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management plan, identifying and assessing potential risks to the project’s schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
- Manage risks related to construction delays, regulatory changes, resource allocation, and external factors.
- Monitor the quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure that construction work meets the required specifications and standards.
- Ensure compliance with all local and international construction standards, including safety regulations, building codes, and environmental guidelines.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to quality and safety protocols.5. Team Management & Coordination:
- Lead and mentor the project management team, including site engineers, planners, procurement specialists, and other key personnel.
- Develop a positive work environment, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and high performance among all project staff.
- Ensure that all team members have the necessary resources, training, and support to successfully execute their responsibilities.
- Conduct regular meetings with the project team to review progress, discuss challenges, and align on solutions.6. Contract Management & Procurement:
- Oversee the contract negotiation and procurement process, ensuring all contracts are clear, fair, and in line with the project’s scope and budget.
- Work closely with procurement teams to ensure that materials, equipment, and services are available on schedule, at the right cost, and with the required quality.
- Ensure compliance with all terms and conditions in subcontracts, purchase orders, and vendor agreements.
- Resolve disputes with contractors or suppliers in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Procore.
- Extensive knowledge of construction methodologies, scheduling techniques, and contract law.
- Proficiency in budget management, cost control, and risk management strategies.
- In-depth understanding of local construction codes, regulations, and safety standards.Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in Project Management, Construction Engineering, or an MBA is highly desirable.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is required.
- LEED or BREEAM accreditation is an advantage for sustainability-driven projects.
