Projects include power generation, environmental recycling projects such as RDF production, recycling Used Lead Acid Batteries (ULAB), water infrastructure and similar concepts. Each project is aimed to be deployed in a timely manner whilst still meeting company short term and medium-term economic hurdle rates.The RoleAuremin is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Projects team and support the development and delivery of a portfolio of projects across Africa and beyond. The successful candidate will be technically rigorous, commercially aware, and comfortable operating in challenging and fast-moving environments. This is a high-impact role for a driven engineer who thrives in frontier markets.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Development & Delivery- Lead and support the full project lifecycle from concept through to execution. This includes feasibility, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk registers; proactively manage deviations and escalate where required.- Review engineering deliverables including design basis documents, technical specifications, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, and scopes of work. This may include leading a team of Owners Engineers for certain projects.- Conduct technical due diligence and feasibility assessments for new project opportunities.EPC & Contractor Management- Manage relationships with EPC contractors, particularly Chinese engineering and construction firms, including scope negotiations, technical reviews, and performance management.- Review and comment on contractor-submitted documents, drawings, and schedules; ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards.- Conduct or lead factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site visits at contractor facilities across Asia as required.Stakeholder & Cross-functional Coordination- Interface with local authorities, government bodies, environmental agencies, and community stakeholders in project host countries.- Coordinate with internal teams (Finance, Legal, Business Development) to ensure project requirements are integrated across all workstreams.- Support permitting, environmental, and social impact processes, particularly in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Tanzania, Namibia, and similar jurisdictions.Reporting & Governance- Prepare regular project status reports, including schedule, budget, risk, and action tracking for senior leadership- Maintain thorough project documentation and ensure version control across all technical records- Support development of project governance frameworks, including stage-gate processes and capital approval submissionsCandidate Profile & Requirements Experience- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in project engineering, with a track record of delivering capital projects from concept to completion- Demonstrated experience managing EPC contractors, preferably including Chinese EPC firms- Prior experience working on projects in African markets — DRC, Tanzania, or Namibia strongly preferred- Familiarity with international engineering standards (IChemE, ASME, ISO, etc.)Education & Professional Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (preferred); other relevant engineering disciplines considered- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a recognised institution (IChemE, IMechE, or equivalent), strongly preferredLanguages- Fluent in English and Mandarin — speaking, reading, and writing (essential)Skills & Attributes- Strong technical writing and communication skills- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment- Comfortable with ambiguity and experienced in navigating complex regulatory and operational environments in emerging markets- Willingness to travel frequently to Africa and AsiaWhy Join Auremin- Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience- High-visibility role within a growing international platform- Exposure to a diverse and dynamic project portfolio across frontier markets
