The role keeps excavations dry and stable, in compliance with authority requirements, while protecting adjacent structures and utilities and supporting the overall project programme.ResponsibilitiesReview geotechnical investigation reports, groundwater levels and soil permeability data to define dewatering requirementsCoordinate with dewatering designers and subcontractors on system selection: deep wells, wellpoints, sump pumping or ejector systemsReview and approve dewatering design calculations, drawings, method statements and pumping schedulesCoordinate dewatering design with shoring, piling, excavation and basement construction sequencesPrepare and follow up dewatering permit and discharge applications with Dubai Municipality and other relevant authoritiesMake sure discharge water quality, sediment control and discharge points meet permit conditionsMaintain all required NOCs, permits and renewals throughout the dewatering periodSupervise installation, testing and commissioning of wells, pumps, header pipes, settlement tanks and discharge linesMonitor groundwater drawdown using piezometers and observation wells, and maintain daily recordsTrack settlement monitoring points on adjacent buildings, roads and utilities, and escalate any deviation from limitsMake sure standby pumps, generators and backup power are in place to prevent system failurePlan the phased switch-off and decommissioning of the system in line with structural progress and uplift checksManage dewatering subcontractors, including progress, manpower, equipment and invoicing verificationPrepare progress reports, look-ahead programmes and cost tracking for dewatering activitiesRaise and track RFIs, material submittals and inspection requestsCoordinate with consultants, the client and internal teams on site meetings and technical issuesEnforce HSE requirements around excavations, electrical installations and pumping equipmentIdentify risks such as base heave, piping, ground loss or water ingress, and implement mitigation measuresRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; specialisation in Geotechnical Engineering is an advantage8 years of experience in civil/infrastructure construction, with a minimum of 3 years in dewatering worksUAE experience is essential, preferably on deep basement, high-rise or infrastructure projects in DubaiHands-on experience with deep well and wellpoint systems, and with groundwater and settlement monitoringSound understanding of soil mechanics, groundwater behaviour and excavation stabilityFamiliarity with Dubai Municipality dewatering and discharge permit proceduresAbility to interpret geotechnical reports, shoring drawings and monitoring dataProficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD; knowledge of Primavera P6 is an advantage
