PRU Learning Support Assistant – LewishamA highly regarded Pupil Referral Unit in Lewisham is seeking a committed and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis.With just 7 pupils per class, subject-specific teaching and an excellent reputation for leadership and pupil outcomes, this is a fantastic opportunity for an LSA who wants to work in a genuinely supportive and structured environment.The RoleYou will work alongside experienced teachers to support pupils across a range of subjects, helping them overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education.You will:Support pupils across a range of subject-specific lessonsProvide one-to-one and small-group learning supportHelp pupils remain focused, engaged and ready to learnSupport pupils with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needsBuild positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundariesAssist teachers with differentiated activities and classroom resourcesSupport pupils with emotional regulation and confidenceEncourage independence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learningContribute to individual pupil support and progressWork closely with teaching, pastoral and SEN teamsAbout YouThe ideal candidate will be:Experienced working with children or young peopleAcademically confident and able to support across multiple subjectsPatient, calm and consistentConfident managing challenging behaviourAble to build positive relationships with pupils who may have disengaged from mainstream educationResilient and adaptablePassionate about helping young people achieve their potentialPrevious experience within a PRU, AP, SEMH setting or secondary school would be advantageous, although strong candidates from youth work, mentoring or other relevant backgrounds will also be considered.Location: LewishamRole: PRU Learning Support AssistantClass Size: 7 pupilsContract: Temp-to-permStart: September 2026
