Apply & track with Apply EdgeUPM is looking for a highly qualified Saudi PhD holder to fill the position of Psychological Counselor under the Deanship of Student Affairs.Functional Description:The Psychological Counselor is responsible for supporting students’ psychological wellbeing, emotional adjustment, and personal development within the university environment. The role provides professional counseling services to students experiencing emotional, behavioral, social, or academic-related difficulties that may affect their university performance and overall wellbeing.The position also contributes to preventive mental health initiatives by designing and delivering awareness programs, workshops, and developmental interventions that promote resilience, wellbeing, and healthy adjustment to university life. The role works collaboratively with academic staff and student support units to ensure early identification, intervention, and appropriate referral of student cases.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct psychological and behavioral assessments of prospective and enrolled students (regular and scholarship) to evaluate personal characteristics, learning motivation, and any psychological or behavioral concerns affecting their academic experience.Provide professional assessment support to assist students in making appropriate academic and career-related decisions, including selection of majors.Deliver individual counseling sessions to students experiencing behavioral, psychological, social, or academic difficulties, and apply appropriate counseling approaches to improve their personal, social, and academic adjustment.Facilitate group counseling sessions and developmental support activities aimed at enhancing students’ coping skills, emotional wellbeing, and social adjustment.Maintain confidentiality of student information and respond to authorized requests for reports or information in accordance with university policies and ethical standards.Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical and case records for students, including documenting sessions, assessments, and follow-up actions until case resolution.Receive and review reports from faculty regarding student cases and follow up on academic or behavioral concerns in coordination with relevant stakeholders.Participate in university events to introduce counseling and student development services and promote awareness of psychological and academic support resources.Design and deliver self-development workshops and psychoeducational programs supporting students’ academic, personal, and social development.Organize and conduct seminars and workshops on study skills, time management, exam preparation, and other academic success strategies.Collaborate with academic departments and other university units to develop and implement programs and activities that support student wellbeing and academic success.Develop and implement ongoing student support programs aimed at enhancing academic potential within the university student community.Guide students to appropriate learning resources and support services based on identified academic or developmental needs.Conduct and coordinate assessments to identify student needs and recommend appropriate interventions and support plans.Monitor and track all ongoing student assessments and cases to ensure proper follow-up and continuity of care.Provide academic counseling to students regarding academic performance, adjustment, and related concerns.Follow up with faculty and staff on the implementation of recommended academic and psychological support interventions for students. Required Education, Skills and Experience:PhD in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related field.Professional certification or license in psychological counseling (if applicable).Proven experience in psychological counseling, preferably within a higher education or student services environment.Strong knowledge of counseling theories, psychological assessment, and student development frameworks.Experience in delivering individual and group counseling services.Skills in case management, psychological assessment, and professional reporting.Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.High level of ethical judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.Experience working in academic or multicultural environments is an advantage.Proficiency in MS Office and student information or case management systems.High level of professionalism, accountability, and integrity.Application Procedure:Please apply online and we will get in touch if the screening committee shortlists you for an interview.The University of Prince Mugrin is located in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
