Job PurposeThe Psychologist will be responsible for providing professional counselling and psychological support to students to promote their emotional well-being, mental health, academic adjustment, personal development, and overall student success.Eligibility CriteriaEssential Qualification:M.Phil./Ph.D. in Psychology/ Master's Degree in Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Counselling Psychology / Applied Psychology, PG. Diploma in guidance and counselling psychology may also be considered .Candidates should have relevant professional exposure in student counselling, psychological counselling, college/university counselling, or a similar setting.Prior experience in a university, college, school, hospital, counselling centre, or mental health organisation.Training/experience in psychological assessment, crisis intervention, suicide-risk assessment, trauma support, or psychotherapy/counselling techniques.Strong communication, interpersonal, listening, and documentation skills.ExperienceMinimum 5 – 8 years of relevant experience in counselling/psychological services is preferred.Candidates with strong practical exposure in student counselling and campus mental-health services may also be considered.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individual and group counselling sessions to students dealing with academic, personal, emotional, behavioural, relationship, or adjustment-related concerns.Conduct initial assessments and psychological screening to understand students' concerns and determine appropriate support.Maintain proper and confidential counselling records and follow professional standards of confidentiality and ethics.Identify students who may require specialized psychological or psychiatric intervention and make appropriate referrals when necessary.Conduct awareness sessions, workshops, and programmes on stress management, anxiety, emotional well-being, study skills, relationships, self-esteem, substance abuse, and other student-related issues.Support students facing academic pressure, examination stress, homesickness, career concerns, or adjustment difficulties.Work closely with faculty members, HODs, Deans, Proctorial/Student Welfare teams, and parents, wherever appropriate and permitted.Provide appropriate support in crisis situations, including assessment of immediate risk and timely referral/escalation to specialised services.Conduct periodic counselling and well-being initiatives to promote a healthy and supportive campus environment.Maintain appropriate documentation and submit periodic reports/MIS regarding counselling activities while protecting student confidentiality.Participate in student development activities and contribute to policies and initiatives related to student welfare and mental well-being.Perform any other counselling or student-welfare-related duties assigned by the University.
