Apply & track with Apply EdgeThe Keller Group is partnering with an award-winning client of ours that is looking to hire a Public Relations Specialist to join their elite Public Relations team in the Greater Phoenix, Arizona area. The Public Relations Specialist will support traditional media efforts across local, national, and industry levels by identifying newsworthy angles, building targeted media lists, writing pitches and press releases, overseeing distribution, and securing coverage that strengthens brand awareness and thought leadership while ensuring consistent messaging across channels.
What You'll Do
Build and nurture relationships with editors, reporters, and trade journalists across local, regional and national outlets.Research and maintain targeted media lists for multiple B2B and B2C brands.Identify timely, newsworthy angles and develop tailored, exclusive pitches.Create and execute targeted outreach campaigns to secure earned media.Write, edit and distribute press releases, pitch emails, media advisories and supporting materials.Lead strategic distribution to trade and mainstream outlets (direct outreach and newswires).Conduct journalist outreach and follow-up to secure interviews and placements.Coordinate media interviews, prepare spokespeople and manage logistics/briefing materials.Monitor coverage, compile reports and summarize results.Scout out award programs, industry rankings, and speaking or conference opportunities that align with brand goals, and help manage the submission process from start to finish - including tracking deadlines and following up once recognition or an engagement is secured.Identify ways to build visibility and goodwill within their local and industry communities, helping connect brands with relevant business, civic, and nonprofit organizations.Keep clear, up-to-date records of outreach efforts, opportunities in progress, and results, and proactively flag progress, roadblocks, or upcoming deadlines to the team.Skills/Experience Needed:Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field of study3+ years of professional experience in public/media relations with a proven track record of securing placements at local, industry and national levelsExisting media contacts and demonstrated ability to build new relationships.Strong writing and editing skills; AP Style proficiency.Tools of the trade: You're confident using media monitoring and reporting toolsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple media-related initiatives simultaneously.Perks + Benefits:Competitive Compensation (Full-Time, Salaried Position)Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance401K with company matchGenerous PTO + Paid Holidays (including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day)Fun Extras: Team outings, volunteer days, industry events, award ceremonies, and more!Ongoing professional development and growth opportunitiesIf you are interested in the Public Relations Specialist position in the Greater Phoenix, Arizona Area, please apply for immediate consideration.
