Public Relations Specialist - Sports

LHH is currently recruiting for a PR Specialist - Sports for a permanent opportunity with our client in the Frisco, TX area. This role will support public relations, media relations, and communications efforts for a growing organization. This role is ideal for a strong writer and confident communicator who understands how to craft compelling stories, build media relationships, and support brand visibility across earned media channels. This is a hybrid opportunity at our client’s office in the Frisco area.Responsibilities:Write and edit press releases, media pitches, bylines, talking points, executive communications, and other public-facing content.Develop compelling story angles and messaging that align with brand priorities, business objectives, and audience interests.Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, national, and industry media contacts.Pitch stories proactively and respond to media inquiries in a timely, professional manner.Support media relations strategy, including press outreach, interview coordination, media list development, and coverage tracking.Monitor media coverage, industry trends, sports news, and competitor activity to identify timely PR opportunities.Collaborate with internal teams to gather information, shape messaging, and ensure communications are accurate, consistent, and on brand.Assist with event-related PR, announcements, partnerships, sponsorships, and community-facing communications as needed.Track PR results and help prepare recap reports highlighting media wins, coverage quality, and campaign impact.Qualifications:3–5 years of public relations, communications, media relations, or related experience.Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a portfolio or writing samples required.Strong writing skills with the ability to create polished, engaging, and accurate content across multiple formats.Hands-on experience pitching media and securing earned coverage.Experience working in sports, athletics, entertainment, events, or a related industry is strongly preferred.Must have a genuine passion for sports and the ability to understand sports audiences, storylines, and media cycles.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Proficiency with media monitoring, PR reporting, media databases, or related communications tools is a plus.Ability to work hybrid at our client’s office in the Frisco, TX area.If this role sounds like a fit for you and you meet the above qualifications, please apply now for consideration.
