The individual must be a “team player” while driving to meet deadlines and business objectives and can work in a dynamic environment supporting current production and new product development. The Purchasing Manager must leverage all relationships to produce short-term deliverables as well as strategic objectives. This position reports directly to the Director of Supply Chain and interfaces closely with multiple organizations within the Bitzer Group, as well as Bitzer World Headquarters in Germany.Reports To: Director of Supply ChainStatus: Full-time, Salary ExemptDuties & Tasks Optimize inventory levels to support customer demand and meet inventory level targets by collaborating with suppliers and functional leaders. Lead the purchasing team by developing goals, mentoring, and training team members. Lead by example, directly performing work as needed/if needed (i.e., placing P.O.s in the MRP system, reconciling invoicing issues, etc.) Analyze market trends, sales forecast demand, and mitigate risks to optimize the purchasing process. Develop and implement key strategic partnerships to leverage the supply base, and work with other BITZER locations to take advantage of economies of scale when appropriate. Negotiate contracts for direct and indirect materials. Responsible for supplier analysis and maintaining supplier metrics to support cost reduction and on-time delivery. Utilize the tools and principles of the BITZER Production Systems (BIPROS) to promote teamwork and continuous improvement for the Purchasing team. Produce weekly/monthly/quarterly reports to track and report key functional metrics to control spend, improve inventory health, and maximize working capital. Work directly with cross-functional teams and cultures, including BITZER World Headquarters in Germany.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Broad manufacturing knowledge and experience; especially in repetitive and custom manufacturing environments. Extensive experience in commodity management, procurement strategies, negotiations, contract management, supplier evaluation and selection, strategic supply agreements, supplier development, and supplier performance. Strong project/program management experience. Detail-oriented approach, with excellent organization, planning, analysis, problem-solving, and follow-through skills. Excellent interpersonal skill to effectively communicate with customers and suppliers across multiple cultures. Ability to read engineering drawings and communicate requirements.Requirements BS Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience and demonstrated leadership. Extensive working knowledge of MRP/ERP, to develop and manage optimal inventory and cost levels. MRP implementation experience is a plus. Approximately 10% of domestic and international travel is periodically required.Work Environment This job is performed in a manufacturing Assembly and Machining environment. Communication is constant with Assembly and Machining, Material control, Quality, and Engineering groups. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
