Join the Synergy family today, and help us build the future of modular manufacturing — one structure at a time.POSITION SUMMARYSynergy Structures is seeking an experienced, detail-driven Purchasing Manager to lead day-to-day purchasing operations for our modular manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in tactical purchasing within a manufacturing environment, along with a genuine passion for accuracy, timeliness, and supplier follow-through. This leadership role carries full accountability for supplier sourcing and pricing, purchase order execution, inventory replenishment, and day-to-day vendor coordination — managed primarily through our Fishbowl purchasing and inventory system ensuring the plant always has the materials it needs, exactly when it needs them, at the best available cost.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPurchasing Operations & Order ManagementIssue, track, and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components, and supplies using Fishbowl, ensuring pricing and terms align with approved supplier agreements.Review purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness, resolving discrepancies with requesting departments before orders are placed.Confirm order acknowledgments, delivery dates, and shipment status with suppliers, updating Fishbowl records and expediting orders as needed to prevent production delays.Inventory & Materials PlanningMonitor inventory levels, reorder points, and lead times across all key materials in Fishbowl, placing replenishment orders to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory.Partner with production and planning teams to align purchase timing with production schedules and upcoming material needs.Reconcile purchase orders against receiving records and Fishbowl inventory counts, resolving variances promptly.Supplier Sourcing & CoordinationIdentify, evaluate, and select suppliers for raw materials, components, and services, balancing cost, quality, lead time, and reliability.Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers, maintaining approved vendor and pricing records within Fishbowl.Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for suppliers, managing order status, delivery scheduling, and routine issue resolution.Track supplier on-time delivery, order accuracy, and responsiveness, and address recurring performance issues directly with vendors.Obtain and compare quotes for non-contracted or one-off purchases, ensuring the best available price and lead time within approved spending guidelines.Cost Control & ReportingMonitor purchase pricing against budgeted costs, flagging discrepancies or pricing changes to senior management.Track purchasing-related spend by category using Fishbowl reporting tools and prepare regular cost and variance reports for management review.Identify opportunities for cost savings, such as order consolidation, freight optimization, and reduced expediting fees.Quality & ComplianceEnsure all purchased materials and components meet company and industry standards for construction, finish, and regulatory compliance (ANSI and applicable state modular codes).Coordinate with quality control and receiving to address non-conforming materials, initiating returns, credits, or replacement orders with suppliers.Maintain accurate, audit-ready purchase order records, receiving documentation, and vendor files within Fishbowl.Process ImprovementIdentify and implement opportunities to streamline requisition-to-order workflows, reduce processing time, and improve purchase order accuracy within Fishbowl.Support the rollout of new purchasing procedures and Fishbowl enhancements and train staff on updated processes.Cross-Department CoordinationCollaborate closely with production, engineering, receiving, and sales teams to confirm material specifications, delivery timing, and order changes.Communicate order status, delays, and material shortages promptly to affected departments to support production planning.Risk & ExpeditingMonitor open orders in Fishbowl for potential delays and proactively expedite critical materials to protect the production schedule.Identify and qualify backup suppliers for critical materials to reduce single-source risk.Performance Monitoring & ReportingTrack key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, purchase order cycle time, and inventory turns using Fishbowl reporting.Report regularly to senior management with clear, actionable insights on purchasing performance and recurring issues.Continuous GrowthStay current on purchasing best practices, Fishbowl system capabilities, and supplier market conditions relevant to the plant's material needs.Recommend process or system enhancements that improve purchasing speed, accuracy, and cost control.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSExperience & EducationMinimum of five (5) years of purchasing or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment preferred; modular, manufactured housing, regional/national homebuilding or building products experience preferred.Proven track record of managing purchase order volume accurately while consistently meeting on-time delivery and inventory-availability goals.Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Technical & Functional KnowledgeStrong understanding of purchase order processes, inventory control, requisition workflows, and manufacturing material flow.Hands-on proficiency with Fishbowl for purchase order management, inventory tracking, and reporting is required.Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, for purchasing analysis and reporting.Core CompetenciesExceptional attention to detail and follow-through, with the ability to track and manage a high volume of open orders simultaneously.Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.Demonstrated competency in vendor coordination, conflict resolution, and sound, timely decision-making.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSPrimarily office-based, with regular time spent in receiving and materials storage areas to confirm deliveries and reconcile inventory.Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout the facility during receiving checks, inventory counts, and coordination with production staff.Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all facility safety protocols when on the plant floor.Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. may be required.COMPENSATION & BENEFITSCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Retirement savings plan with company match.Paid time off and holidays.Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.Supportive, inclusive, and performance-driven culture.Access to cutting-edge tools and technology.OUR CULTURESynergy Structures values performance, accountability, and teamwork.
