Purchasing Manager / Import and Export Manager / Procurement ManagerRole DescriptionThe Purchasing Manager / Import and Export Manager / Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing procurement strategies, managing international trade operations, and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective sourcing of goods and materials. This role involves supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, purchasing planning, import and export coordination, regulatory compliance, and supply chain optimization. The position works closely with logistics, warehouse, finance, and operations teams to ensure timely procurement, smooth international shipments, effective cost control, and uninterrupted business operations.Key responsibilities include:Develop and implement purchasing and procurement strategies to optimize costs, improve supplier performance, and support business objectives.Oversee purchasing activities, including supplier selection, quotation evaluation, purchase order approval, and order fulfillment.Identify, assess, and maintain strategic supplier relationships based on quality, pricing, reliability, and delivery performance.Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.Manage import and export operations, including shipment planning, customs documentation, freight arrangements, and cargo tracking.Ensure international trade activities comply with applicable customs regulations, import/export requirements, and company policies.Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping agents, and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate shipments.Monitor purchasing budgets, procurement expenses, transportation costs, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.Collaborate with inventory and warehouse teams to forecast material requirements and maintain appropriate stock levels.Evaluate market trends, supplier risks, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain conditions to support strategic decisions.Resolve procurement issues, shipment delays, quality discrepancies, and supplier disputes through effective corrective actions.Establish procurement procedures, internal controls, and performance indicators to improve operational efficiency and accountability.Prepare management reports on purchasing performance, sourcing savings, import/export activities, and supply chain risks.Lead and coordinate procurement personnel to ensure effective planning, execution, and compliance with established procedures.Identify opportunities to improve sourcing strategies, streamline trade processes, reduce costs, and strengthen supply chain resilience.QualificationsDiploma or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.Strong knowledge of purchasing management, strategic procurement, supplier negotiation, and international trade operations.Understanding of import/export documentation, customs clearance, shipping procedures, and international commercial terms such as Incoterms.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and ERP or procurement management systems.Excellent negotiation, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.Strong supplier relationship management and contract management capabilities.Ability to analyze costs, evaluate commercial proposals, and develop effective procurement strategies.Good understanding of inventory planning, logistics coordination, and supply chain risk management.Strong leadership, team management, and cross-departmental coordination skills.High attention to detail in procurement documentation, trade compliance, and financial records.Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet operational deadlines, and resolve complex supply chain issues.High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to cost optimization, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
