Quality Assurance Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities

The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through comprehensive testing practices. The role works closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to identify defects, validate requirements, and improve overall product quality throughout the software development lifecycle. The QA Engineer contributes to both manual and automated testing activities, supports release readiness, and promotes quality best practices across the development team.Test Planning and Execution

• Analyse business and technical requirements to develop effective test strategies and test plans.
• Design, create, and maintain test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts.
• Execute functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.
• Validate software releases against defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Identify, document, track, and verify defects through resolution.Automation Testing
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Improve test coverage and reduce manual testing effort through automation.
• Analyse automation results and address test failures.Quality Assurance Activities
• Participate in requirement reviews, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and design discussions.
• Ensure software meets quality, security, usability, and performance standards.
• Conduct root cause analysis of defects and recommend preventive actions.
• Monitor quality metrics and report testing outcomes to stakeholders.Collaboration
• Work closely with developers to reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
• Partner with Product Management and Business Analysts to clarify requirements.
• Support production validation and post-release verification activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and standards.Process Improvement
• Recommend enhancements to testing tools, methodologies, and processes.
• Support adoption of Agile and DevOps quality practices.
• Assist in establishing quality gates and release criteria.
• Promote a culture of quality within the engineering organization.Skills and experience:Required
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Experience testing web, desktop, API, and/or cloud-based applications.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools.
• Knowledge of manual and automated testing techniques.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and N1 (native speaker level) Japanese.Preferred (Nice to have)
• Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent.
• Experience testing REST APIs using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of SQL and database testing.
• Experience with performance and load testing tools.
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
• Experience working in travel technology, GDS, airline, or hospitality domains.
