Apply & track with Apply EdgeDRILLING QA/QC ENGINEERSharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC)JOB SCOPEThe Drilling QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all drilling equipment, materials, services and operational activities comply with company standards, industry regulations, contractual requirements and applicable quality management systems.The role supports the safe and efficient delivery of drilling operations by implementing quality assurance processes, conducting inspections and audits, monitoring contractor performance, and verifying that equipment and services meet specified technical and operational requirements.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in all pre-spud activities, leading reviews of SNOC QA/QC requirements and expectations and developing an overall Quality Plan for drilling and completion operations.
- Develop vendor audit plans and reports to assess vendor competency and compliance with DS-1 drilling and completion equipment standards, and make recommendations for conducting such audits.
- Review well-specific equipment lists and make recommendations to SNOC for the development and approval of vendor- and equipment-specific quality plans and Inspection and Test Plans for downhole equipment, documenting disassembly, refurbishment, repair, inspection, assembly and testing.
- Compile, collate and consolidate daily and other periodic reports into a database of accepted, rejected and non-conforming vendor/supplier downhole equipment, categorised by vendor and equipment type.
- Recommend vendor- and equipment-specific quality assurance intensity levels to optimise quality assurance efforts based on observations of vendor compliance during quality assurance activities and audits.
- Coordinate between SNOC and service contractors/suppliers to ensure equipment readiness when required at the rig.
- Track quality problems specific to each service contractor/supplier.
- Review contractual quality requirements relating to DS-1.
- Audit service suppliers’ Quality Management Systems and quality control programmes.
- Visit service suppliers’ facilities to conduct audits and witness inspection, servicing, assembly, repairs and other activities related to drilling and completion equipment.
- Conduct audits and inspections and prepare the corresponding reports.
- Educate Drilling Team personnel on Quality Management System requirements.
- Carry out product and process audits of contractors in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
- Ensure control plans and associated documentation are effectively implemented and maintained.
- Oversee local manufacturing and repairs.
- Implement and manage the Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) system.
- Manage material certification documentation for locally purchased goods.
- Oversee pre-job service tool and equipment preparation and inspections, including disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, pressure testing and function testing, ensuring that approved procedures and quality plans are followed.
- Carry out rig inspections in accordance with recognised industry practices.
- Coordinate equipment failure investigations and root cause analyses.
- Verify and accept or reject all damaged and damaged-beyond-repair (DBR) equipment returned from rig operations.
- Develop, implement, review and maintain the Drilling & Wells Quality Management System and related documentation.
- Provide input to relevant project-specific risk registers and risk management plans on quality complexity topics.
- Implement project-specific Quality Plans and associated Assurance Schedules.
- Establish and, where required, manage corrective and preventive actions arising from quality activities.
- Record and follow up on all QA/QC incidents, including NCRs, deviations and dispensations; request root cause failure analyses and issue Lessons Learned Notifications.
- Effectively use and maintain systems for quality management, non-conformance, improvement and action tracking.
- Ensure quality standards align with industry best practice and corporate requirements.
- Ensure the management system complies with current and new legislation and standards.
- Identify the need for, and carry out, quality performance standard measurements.
- Review, advise, audit and report on quality performance across the business, using a risk-based approach to determine focus areas and improvement actions.
- Provide advice and support in setting standards and evaluating supplied materials, equipment and services.
- Develop and execute contract quality programmes in accordance with contract requirements and/or Project Execution Plans.
- Support tendering activities through quality evaluations of potential suppliers, as required.
- Support the delivery of internal audits and external supplier audits.
- Promote activities that improve quality performance.
- Advise on quality non-conformances and areas for improvement.
- Ensure suitable and sufficient follow-up of audit findings and quality non-conformance actions.
- Attend project meetings as required to provide quality support and advice on QA/QC deliverables.
- Liaise with the Client Quality Representative from key service providers, as appropriate.
- Review and approve product/material requisitions and validate quality control and certification requirements.
- Assign and coordinate product/material inspection activities in accordance with purchase orders, datasheets, drawings, client specifications and requirements, and Inspection and Test Plans.
- Interface with the appointed independent verification authority, as required.
- Train and develop young engineers, as required.
