Quantamental Researcher - APAC

The CompanyThis quantitative firm is building out its alternative data capability, with a focus on signal research across APAC markets. The team sits within a broader systematic research function, spanning both quantamental and pure systematic approaches. Alpha research and alternative data research are the team's core focus, with close collaboration across the wider research and monetisation functions.The RoleConduct alpha research within a systematic equity framework, with a particular emphasis on APAC sector-level signals and company-specific forecastingSource, organise, and analyse structured and unstructured datasets to track companies, industries, and products beyond traditional financial statement analysisResearch, implement, and backtest signals drawing on alternative, fundamental, and positioning data sources relevant to the regionTranslate alternative and fundamental data into signals that feed systematic strategiesDesign bespoke KPI frameworks and data-driven tools to support the broader research processApply modern ML techniques and agentic AI workflows to sharpen research productivity and model robustnessPartner with monetisation teams across the full research lifecycleYour ProfileDegree in a quantitative field: Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or EconomicsExperience in a quantitative research, data science, or analytical role, ideally with exposure to Asian marketsProficient in Python, with practical experience handling alternative and positioning datasetsExposure to LLMs or applied ML in a research or analytical settingBackground in either quantamental or pure systematic research, ideally with exposure to bothComfortable operating alongside fundamentally-minded researchers, with an awareness of how alternative data supports fundamental as well as systematic processesNaturally curious, with an interest in identifying new data sets and research angles specific to APACPre-Application RequirementsThis is a permanent role; contract applicants will not be considered.Your application is subject to our privacy policy, found here: https://www.thurnpartners.com/privacy-policy
