About the Role:This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of quantum error correction (QEC) and quantum resource estimation at a venture-backed quantum computing company focused on understanding what is realistically achievable with fault-tolerant quantum systems. We're looking for a quantum scientist who can benchmark and evaluate existing QEC codes, rather than someone focused on inventing new ones. You'll work across different code families, assessing their resource requirements and performance to understand the trade-offs between approaches and how they impact real-world quantum workloads. What You'll Do:Benchmark existing quantum error correction codes and compare their performancePerform resource estimation for fault-tolerant quantum computing architecturesEvaluate the trade-offs between different QEC approaches and code familiesWork with a broad range of quantum error correction codes, including surface codes, qLDPC codes and other leading approachesAnalyse the physical and logical resource requirements of different codesDevelop rigorous benchmarking methodologies and communicate results clearlyWork alongside quantum algorithm and software engineers to connect QEC assumptions with real quantum workloadsWhat We're Looking For:Strong understanding of quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computingHands-on experience working with or benchmarking multiple QEC code familiesFamiliarity with surface codes, qLDPC and other modern QEC codesExperience with quantum resource estimation, simulation, benchmarking or scientific computingStrong mathematical and analytical skillsPhD in Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a related field preferredExperience with quantum programming or quantum software frameworks is valuableYou don't need to have invented a new QEC code, deep familiarity with existing codes and the ability to rigorously benchmark them is the key requirementIf you're experienced across QEC codes and are excited by the challenge of understanding which approaches are genuinely viable at scale, apply today!
