R&D Engineer (PHP/Python/AI) – Doncaster (Hybrid Remote) - £60kLaravel & Python/AI | POC and R&D Builds | On-site Gym | Bonus SchemeAda Meher are currently working with a client in Doncaster as they recruit a Senior PHP Developer to join their Innovations Team working on Proof of Concepts and AI-enablement. This team is responsible for seeking out opportunities across the business to implement new technology to optimise operations and delivery. As such, you’d be joining colleagues from multiple disciplines, such as data analytics & operations, and be responsible for building out PoC and resulting project work.The wider project delivery development teams in the business use a PHP/Laravel/Vue stack and therefore a lot of the builds will be focused in this area, and as such the successful applicant will have skills in PHP but more than anything the client are looking for strong engineering and logical reasoning skills. This is because there is also an appetite for the successful candidate to be creative and look at emerging technologies and AI enablement (such as voice transcription & agentic workflow automation etc) in this role, so the successful candidate will also have a curiosity and desire to look at technologies outside of this core stack as well as the logical framework to pick up new skills quickly.Based in Doncaster the company operate a hybrid model, with the development team coming into the office 3 days per week. However given the level of stakeholder engagement required in this position, whilst hybrid work is still available, it is likely to have a slightly heavier in office leaning & as such candidates should be based within a commutable distance of Doncaster and willing to travel into the office as needed.To Be Considered:Strong experience in PHP DevelopmentCreative problem solving / programming skillsBest practice coding standards (eg TDD / Design Patterns)An interest in emerging technologies and AI-enablementExperience with Software Optimisations and Performance TuningAny experience with AI/Python libraries would be a benefitThe company in question is a market leader in the Insurance sector with the technology they work on and the boundaries they try to push.
