Job Title: Real-Time Character Performance Coordinator — AI Characters & Digital Humans (1 Position)About the JobWe are seeking a highly organized, technically aware, and performance-focused Real-Time Character Performance Coordinator to coordinate the development, capture, integration, testing, and delivery of real-time performances for AI characters, digital humans, virtual characters, avatars, and interactive digital experiences at D3.The successful candidate will serve as a coordination point between performers, performance directors, motion capture specialists, animators, technical artists, AI specialists, developers, and production teams. The role focuses on ensuring that character performances are properly planned, captured, processed, integrated, synchronized, tested, and delivered across real-time environments.This is a hands-on interdisciplinary role for someone who understands both human performance and the technical requirements of real-time digital character systems and can keep complex performance pipelines organized, consistent, and production-ready.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate end-to-end real-time character performance workflows from planning and rehearsal through capture, processing, integration, testing, and delivery.Coordinate communication between performers, directors, motion capture teams, animators, technical artists, AI specialists, developers, and production managers.Translate creative performance requirements into clear technical and production requirements for real-time character systems.Prepare performance briefs, capture plans, schedules, shot lists, rehearsal plans, and technical checklists.Coordinate live performance sessions involving body, facial, hand, finger, voice, and other performance inputs.Support the planning and execution of motion capture and performance capture sessions.Coordinate performer availability, rehearsal schedules, capture sessions, technical setup, and production timelines.Monitor the quality and consistency of captured performance data and coordinate the resolution of tracking, calibration, synchronization, or recording issues.Coordinate data preparation, cleanup, retargeting, editing, blending, and integration into digital character pipelines.Work closely with animation and technical teams to ensure captured performances are correctly transferred to character rigs and real-time systems.Support the integration of performances into Unreal Engine, Unity, or other real-time environments.Coordinate synchronization between animation, facial performance, voice, behavioral systems, AI-generated actions, and real-time character responses.Maintain performance libraries, naming conventions, metadata, version control, and documentation.Help establish consistent movement, gesture, facial expression, timing, and behavioral standards for individual digital characters.Coordinate performance testing across different characters, environments, devices, and interaction scenarios.Identify performance inconsistencies, technical bottlenecks, or production risks and ensure they are communicated and resolved efficiently.Organize review sessions and collect structured feedback from directors, animators, developers, AI specialists, and other stakeholders.Track performance-related tasks, dependencies, milestones, approvals, revisions, and delivery status.Maintain clear documentation of capture sessions, character requirements, technical configurations, performance assets, and final outputs.Coordinate with technical teams on real-time tracking, cameras, sensors, microphones, motion capture systems, and related performance technologies.Support the development of repeatable and scalable workflows for real-time character performance production.Research emerging technologies in motion capture, facial capture, AI-driven animation, procedural animation, real-time performance, and digital humans.Assist in testing new tools and workflows that can improve performance quality, production efficiency, and real-time responsiveness.Ensure that performance assets and workflows remain aligned with creative direction, technical specifications, and project objectives.QualificationsMinimum BA/MA in Animation, Film, Performing Arts, Theatre, Game Development, Digital Media, Virtual Production, Computer Graphics, Interactive Media, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.At least 3–5 years of experience in character performance, animation, motion capture, virtual production, real-time content, digital humans, game development, or a related field.Strong understanding of human movement, acting, gesture, facial expression, physical performance, and character behavior.Practical understanding of motion capture and performance capture workflows, including body, facial, hand, and finger capture.Experience coordinating multidisciplinary creative and technical teams.Familiarity with real-time character production pipelines and digital character workflows.Working knowledge of Unreal Engine and/or Unity.Familiarity with animation, rigging, retargeting, motion editing, and character integration workflows.Understanding of digital humans, AI characters, avatars, virtual characters, or interactive character systems.Familiarity with technologies such as optical motion capture, inertial capture, markerless tracking, facial capture, camera tracking, depth sensing, or real-time tracking systems.Understanding of real-time synchronization between performance data, animation, audio, AI systems, and interactive environments.Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and dependencies.Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate between creative, performance, and technical teams.Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies in performance data, character behavior, timing, and technical implementation.Ability to troubleshoot workflow and coordination issues and follow problems through to resolution.Familiarity with AI-assisted animation, procedural animation, generative AI, or real-time behavioral systems is an asset.Experience with tools such as Maya, Blender, MotionBuilder, MetaHuman, Rokoko, Vicon, OptiTrack, Faceware, or comparable technologies is an asset.Experience working with virtual production, immersive environments, games, XR, digital media, or interactive experiences is an asset.Fluency in English;
