Apply & track with Apply EdgeRegional Head of Production – Murfin Drilling CompanyMurfin Drilling Company is looking for a Head of Production to lead and modernize its production operations across its Kansas and Williston Basin assets. The right candidate will bring a practical, data-driven approach to technology, process, and team performance, and will be empowered to reshape how the department operates.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the department. Direct all production operations, including oversight of production engineers, field superintendents, foremen, pumpers, and support staff.Evaluate how the group is organized. Assess the department's current structure, roles, and workflows, and recommend and carry out changes that align staffing and resources with operational needs.Integrate technology. Implement modern production technologies such as SCADA, remote monitoring, automation, and production data systems to improve visibility, reduce manual processes, and support faster decisions.Redesign processes. Streamline field and office workflows, from well surveillance and route management to reporting and maintenance scheduling, to eliminate redundancy and improve efficiency.Build a high-performing culture. Develop a lean, accountable team with clear responsibilities, performance expectations, and metrics, and lead the change management needed to get there.Optimize production and costs. Drive initiatives to maximize production, reduce downtime, and lower lease operating expenses (LOE) across the asset base.Manage budgets and reporting. Own the production budget, forecasts, and KPIs, and report regularly to executive leadership on performance, cost, and improvement initiatives.Oversee safety and compliance. Keep all production operations compliant with HSE standards and with state and federal regulations in each state, including: Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC), North Dakota Industrial Commission (NDIC), Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (WOGCC), Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC), Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC)Work across departments. Partner with drilling, completions, reservoir engineering, land, and accounting to support field development and asset optimization.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field (preferred)10+ years of production operations experience, including 5+ years in a leadership roleProven track record of implementing technology and process improvements in a production organizationExperience leading organizational change, restructuring, or operational turnaroundsStrong understanding of artificial lift, well optimization, and LOE managementExperience with both conventional and unconventional/horizontal assets (Bakken, Permian, experience a plus)Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
