Regional Service Engineer

1. Purpose of JobReporting to the Operations Manager, and assisting the Regional Service Manager, the role is part of a team responsible for sales and quotation support, site / equipment surveys, servicing, installation methodology and troubleshooting of Jacopa and other manufacturers’ equipment, processes and machinery.The role involves predominately site visits and meeting customers and suppliers. 2. Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesCarry out site visits to undertake surveys of equipment, intrusive inspections, and prepare detailed reports of state of equipment, parts required, labour and supporting equipment as required to enable the Proposals team to prepare quotations.Close liaison with the Proposals team and Installation ManagerClose liaison with the Frameworks and Projects Coordinator and Key Account Manager to administer framework and similar work in accordance with customer requirementsIdentify further product sales, maintenance and service work for the company while attending customer sitesTo assist with mechanical service, commissioning, troubleshooting and training.Undertake all work in strict accordance with company policies and procedures, particularly in respect of managing health & safety + environmental risks.Prepare all risk assessments and method statements for activities of the role in accordance with company standardsEnsure that the work carried out is planned and completed to a high standard and that all issues arising during the site work are dealt with immediately, reported as required and in a professional manner.Manage the relationship with the customer, subcontractors and suppliers.Create site reports as necessary to Jacopa standards on completion of site work.Liaise closely and constructively with all supporting company colleagues to ensure work is efficiently and effectively reported, completed, and required information produced at site is fully communicated, avoiding re-visits.Maximise work productivity by planning efficient travel arrangements, preparing pre-information packs, pre-organising tools / parts / sub suppliers / subcontractors etc and providing early H&S RAMS and crane plans supported by Regional Service Manager and other colleagues, including Project Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Design Engineers and the Installations team. Ensure any technical or site issues have been discussed, programmes and actions agreed and work is completed to a high standard.Work closely with suppliers and sub-contractors.The role is hands-on and an active participation and lead on site as well as job preparation work is required.3. Competencies and Capabilities The role requires a skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician, who is used to working from mechanical engineering drawings ideally from a site M & E, plant maintenance or metal fabrication background. Previous experience working within municipal wastewater treatment servicing or operations is essential.Qualifications for the role will be a mechanical based or NVQ standards equivalent in an Engineering, installation, commissioning and/or maintenance discipline. The role requires relevant experience of 5 years on site working environment.The role requires a people and customer focused approach, with ability to confidently build relationships at all levels within the supply change, including customer.Work environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Occasionally, travel to Wales, northern England, Scotland and Ireland4. Education and/or Experience BackgroundMinimum qualifications in health & safety are required, and all required qualifications shall be gained within 6 months of commencement of employment.Conversant with Microsoft office to a good standard.Microsoft Project and Autocad use will be an advantage.Be able to work on an ERP database such as IFS.Have good literacy and numeracy standards and converse fluently in English.Eligible to work in the UK.Ability to assess and problem solve using several variables on a practical basis and to be self-motivated, a self-starter, customer focused, team orientated, reliable with a strong sense of ownership and be able to demonstrate initiative.A clean driving license and willingness to travel.Training will be provided where needed.
