Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) – Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) provides chairside clinical support to the dentist while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, infection control, and office efficiency. The RDA is responsible for assisting with dental procedures, preparing treatment rooms, educating patients, maintaining accurate records, and performing expanded duties as permitted under Florida law and office protocols.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist the dentist during a variety of dental proceduresPrepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before patient appointmentsSterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment according to OSHA and CDC guidelinesTake and process dental radiographs in accordance with Florida certification requirementsPerform expanded functions as authorized by the supervising dentist and Florida regulationsRecord patient medical histories, vital information, and treatment notes in the electronic dental recordProvide pre-operative and post-operative patient instructionsEducate patients on oral hygiene and preventive dental careMaintain inventory of dental supplies and clinical materialsEnsure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and workplace safety standardsMaintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environmentAssist with laboratory procedures, impressions, temporary restorations, and other delegated clinical duties as permittedQualificationsCertification from an accredited Dental Assisting program is required.Current Florida Dental Radiographer Certification or graduation from a Florida Board-approved dental assisting program with radiography trainingExpanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification preferredCurrent CPR/BLS certificationKnowledge of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and dental softwareExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentPreferred ExperienceMinimum of one year of chairside dental assisting experience preferredExperience with digital radiography and electronic dental recordsFamiliarity with restorative, surgical, endodontic, pediatric, and prosthodontic proceduresThis position requires professionalism, compassion, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care while supporting the dentist and clinical team.
