Nova Counseling Centre | OntarioIn-Person / Virtual / HybridNova Counseling Centre is seeking an experienced and culturally responsive Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team and support Indigenous clients and communities.This position is part of Nova’s commitment to strengthening access to culturally safe, responsive, and appropriate mental health services for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis clients. We are seeking a clinician with meaningful knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, communities, and approaches to health and wellness, together with relevant clinical experience.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individual psychotherapy and counselling to Indigenous clients across a range of mental health concerns.Deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and client-centred care.Support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, stress, relationship concerns, family challenges, and life transitions.Incorporate culturally appropriate approaches and Indigenous perspectives on health and wellness when clinically appropriate and guided by the client.Conduct clinical assessments, establish collaborative treatment goals, and develop individualized treatment plans.Recognize the potential impact of historical and intergenerational trauma, colonization, displacement, and systemic barriers on mental health and access to care.Work respectfully with Indigenous ways of knowing and healing while recognizing the diversity among First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples and communities.Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with applicable professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.Collaborate with clinicians, community resources, and other members of the client's circle of care when appropriate and with proper consent.Maintain professional, ethical, culturally safe, and respectful therapeutic relationships.QualificationsRegistered and in good standing as either:a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO); ora Psychologist authorized for autonomous practice with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).Master's or doctoral degree in an applicable mental health discipline, consistent with the requirements of the candidate's professional registration.Demonstrated competence and experience in providing psychotherapy to Indigenous clients and/or communities.Strong knowledge of First Nations, Inuit, and/or Métis histories, cultures, community contexts, and approaches to wellness.Demonstrated understanding of culturally responsive, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally safe practice.Strong communication, interpersonal, clinical assessment, treatment-planning, and documentation skills.Ability to practise independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.Please note: Nova is not accepting Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) applicants or Psychologists registered for supervised practice for this position.Strong AssetsFirst Nations, Inuit, or Métis lived experience and/or meaningful connection with Indigenous communities.Fluency or professional proficiency in a First Nations, Inuit, or Métis language.Experience working with Indigenous community organizations or Indigenous health and social-service programs.Training or experience related to Indigenous mental health, intergenerational trauma, culturally grounded healing, or reconciliation-informed practice.Experience working with clients affected by complex trauma, grief, substance use concerns, or systemic and intergenerational adversity.What We OfferA supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary clinical environment.Flexible opportunities for in-person, virtual, and hybrid practice.Extended health benefits for eligible team members and their families.Performance-based bonus opportunities.Access to a large and diverse clinical team and professional community.Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and professional growth.Administrative and operational support.Opportunities to serve clients from a wide range of cultural and linguistic communities.An inclusive organization committed to accessible, culturally responsive, and high-quality mental health care.About Nova Counseling CentreNova Counseling Centre is a multidisciplinary mental health clinic serving children, youth, adults, couples, and families across Ontario.
