Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are seeking a highly skilled Renewable Solar Technical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between advanced product technology and utility/C&I-scale project design. You will act as the technical authority for LONGi's next-generation photovoltaic (PV) modules, while actively sizing, evaluating, and integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role requires a balance of rigorous engineering design, data-driven financial modeling (LCOE), and client-facing technical consultation.Key Responsibilities1. PV System Engineering & OptimizationEnergy Yield Assessments: Conduct comprehensive simulation and yield analysis using industry-standard tools (PVsyst, AutoCAD, PVCase).Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and optimize next-generation cell architectures (N-type, back-contact/HPBC technologies) against regional climate variables like high ambient temperatures and soiling.System Layout & Configuration: Design optimal string configurations, inverter sizing ratios, and DC/AC balance of system (BOS) components to maximize plant performance.2. BESS Integration & EngineeringStorage Sizing & Selection: Perform technical assessments for utility-scale and commercial BESS, calculating capacity requirements, round-trip efficiency (RTE), and optimal state-of-charge (SoC) profiles.System Hybridization: Support the technical configuration of solar-plus-storage systems, ensuring seamless integration between the PV array, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and energy management software (EMS).Grid Compliance: Evaluate basic grid connection requirements, grid-forming capabilities, and plant control philosophies related to storage injection.3. Techno-Commercial Strategy & Financial ModelingLCOE Sensitivity Analysis: Build and maintain analytical models comparing technology choices (e.g., N-type TOPCon vs. Advanced BC modules) assessing CAPEX, OPEX, and long-term degradation curves.Client Consultation: Deliver highly technical presentations, white papers, and engineering proposals to C-suite executives, developers, and EPC contractors.Technical Due Diligence: Address technical queries during tender/RFP processes, managing compliance with local grid codes and international electrical standards (IEC, IEEE).Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, or a closely related technical field.Experience: 3–5+ years of dedicated engineering experience in utility-scale or large C&I solar PV design.Storage Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including containerized liquid-cooled lithium-ion architectures, inverter/PCS integration, and typical battery degradation mechanics.Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of PVsyst and AutoCAD. Familiarity with BESS simulation or electrical transient tools is highly preferred.Standards & Codes: Deep understanding of grid codes, electrical safety regulations, and key performance metrics (PR, capacity factors, degradation modeling).Soft Skills: Strong analytical mindset, excellent technical writing skills, and the ability to confidently present complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
